About the Sig Sauer P229 (Post-2010)
Known for delivering unmatched reliability under stress, the Sig Sauer® P229 is the gold standard of duty pistols, favored by civilian shooters, law enforcement agencies, and military personnel worldwide. Introduced in 1992, this double-action/single-action (DA/SA) handgun features a lightweight aluminum alloy frame with a double-stack magazine well for superior strength and unwavering corrosion resistance, while the stamped steel slide comes equipped with a standard three-dot sighting system for intuitive target acquisition and optimal clarity in any target or personal defense environment. Further, the Sig P229 is a versatile centerfire pistol, available in 9mm, .40 S&W, and .357 Sig, making it the ultimate sidearm for police and military personnel, as well as civilian defense shooters.

In 2010, the Sig P229 E2 ('E-squared') was introduced as an attempt to make the large frame gun more ergonomic for smaller hands, and featured a reduced grip size and reduced reach trigger, bringing the trigger face back more than 13 mm (0.5 in). This, of course, resulted in a smaller magazine well, requiring a redesign for post-2010 P229 magazines.
