What is a Double-Action System?

As the trigger is pulled, the double-action system does two actions:  pulls the hammer back and releases the hammer on the firing pin, resulting in a relatively heavy, intentional pull. Double-action triggers are great for pocket-carry and personal defense guns, as they protect against accidental discharges due to a light trigger pull or cocked hammer. However, some small-framed shooters find double-action triggers harder to operate and less accurate due to the rather heavy pull.
