Izhmash

Formerly known as the Izhevsk Arms Factory, Izhmash is the largest producer of small arms in Russia. Originally founded under a decree of Czar Alexander I in 1807, Izhmash is world-renowned for producing the iconic Saiga, Vepr, and other AK-style firearms. The importance of this enterprise in the history of Russia can not be overestimated. During the Second World War, the Izhmash plant produced 11.3 million rifles and carbines for the Red Army. Later in the war, Izhmash began production of anti-tank rifles, aircraft guns, air guns, pistols, revolvers, parts, and accessories to better arm the Russians against the German military.
