CCI Ammunition

CCI started in 1951 when Richard “Dick” Speer left the aircraft manufacturing industry for the ammunition business. After two name changes, Speer and his partner, Arvid Nelson, settled on the name Cascade Cartridges, Inc., better known as CCI today.

Today, CCI is headquartered in Lewiston, Idaho under the Kinetic Group, manufacturing a variety of popular rimfire and centerfire rifle and handgun ammunition, including .22LR ammo and 9mm plinking and defensive rounds.

Here at GunMag Warehouse, we stock a huge selection of CCI self-defense and target ammo at prices you can’t ignore. No matter what you need, we have the CCI ammo for you!

Frequently Asked Questions

Who Makes CCI Ammo?

CCI is owned by the Kinetic Group, which also owns other popular ammo brands like Federal, Remington, and Speer. In 2024, Kinetic was acquired by the Czechoslovak Group (CSG), which oversees over 100 companies across the globe.

Where Is CCI Ammo Made?

All CCI ammo is made in Lewiston, Idaho, on the same property the company has been operating out of since the early 60s. At this facility, CCI adheres to SAAMI and ISO production specs, and this emphasis on quality control is a big reason why the brand has become so known for reliability.

What Does CCI Ammo Stand For?

CCI stands for Cascade Cartridges, Inc., in a nod to the nearby Lake Cascade Recreation Area in Idaho. While CCI has grown a lot since founders Dick Speer and Arvid Nelson first settled on that name, the title still fits, with CCI operating out of Lewiston, Idaho, to this day.

Is CCI Blazer Ammo Good?

Despite being a budget line of target ammo, CCI Blazer has a reputation for reliability. The line has been named the most purchased handgun ammo brand multiple times, and that popularity comes from its dependability. CCI’s strict quality control practices and emphasis on protecting its primers mean even its entry-level ammo delivers consistent results.

Is CCI Ammo Good for Reloading?

In addition to being dependable and high-performing, CCI ammo is a great choice for reloaders. Reloading is what inspired its founder to enter the ammunition business, and CCI uses boxer-type primers in its Blazer line of ammo to make reloading easier.
