SK Custom Release Early Italian Renaissance 1911 Pistol

SK Customs has partnered with Springfield Armory to deliver a one-of-a-kind series this year, starting with the custom Michelangelo 1911 pistol. The 4-part series titled “The Early Italian Renaissance” takes inspiration from the art and innovation from the early Italian Renaissance, and the first model as an engraver model 1911 stainless pistol.

The first in the series, the Michelangelo, is a stainless 1911 chambered in .45 ACP and features some of the artist’s most influential works, like the David, parts of his work on the Sistine Chapel ceiling, and the “Madonna della Pietá.” Unique to the pistol, SK Customs created the teal color for the work through a proprietary color conversion process that is reflective and permanent on the weapon’s body.

SK Customs, partnering with Springfield Armory, has released a one-of-a-kind pistol series for 2024 paying homage to the early Italian Renaissance artist. The first from the series is the Michelangelo pistol, based on the 1911 Garrison pistol but featuring 24-karat plating and unique teal coloring accents. “The goal of the Early Italian Renaissance series is to symbolize the cultural rebirth of the 15th century and pay homage to the knowledge, art, and humanism that sparked iconic paintings, sculptures, and architecture during this era,” said Simon Khiabani, owner and founder of SK Customs. “The Michelangelo firearm strikingly introduces this series. The combination of the gold plating and the teal color conversion accents is spectacular, and we are able to pay homage to some of Michelangelo’s most iconic works.”

For the Michelangelo pistol, Springfield Armory took inspiration for the body style from the Springfield Armory 1911 Garrison. From that base, the pistol has a semi-polished finish for the frame and slide flats, while the barrel features a high-polished finish. The grip panels are genuine imported Italian Olivewood with engraved Fleur de Lis that is hand-painted to match the teal from the slide. The pistol also features selective 24-karat gold plating within the artwork depictions and on select pistol components for an additional sense of opulence.

The other pistols in the series are the Leonardo da Vinci, Andrea del Sarto, and Raphael. Each pistol in the series is a limited-edition model with only 250 numbered pistols created for its respective release. The Michelangelo Springfield 1911 pistol from SK Customs has a price point of $2,405 and is expected to be released in March.

Also coming later this year is the “Gold Series” of these pistols that include matching 24-karat etched blades by renowned knife maker Coltellerie Maserin. Only 25 sets will be made with each pistol model, so keep an eye out if that interests you.

Patti Miller is one of the most awesome females in the tactical/firearm (or any) industry. Imagine a tall, hawt, dangerous Laura Ingalls Wilder type with cool hair and a suppressed blaster and you'll be getting the idea. What's interesting is that in addition to being a willing brawler and intrepid adventuress, she's also an Ent/Ogier level gardener and a truly badass baker.
