What is Glock’s Safe Action System?
The Glock Safe Action System provides users with a consistent trigger pull from the first to the last round. Consisting of three automatic, independently operating mechanical safeties that include a trigger safety, firing pin safety, and drop safety, Glock pistols are designed to ensure safe handling when not in use. The trigger safety is incorporated into the trigger and doesn’t allow you to move the trigger rearward until it’s fully depressed. The firing pin safety mechanically blocks the firing pin from moving forward in the ready-to-fire condition. As you pull the trigger rearward, the firing pin safety is pushed up to free the firing pin channel. Finally, the drop safety consists of a safety ramp within the trigger mechanism housing. As you pull the trigger back, the safety ramp is lowered to allow the firing pin to release. All three safeties disengage sequentially when you pull the trigger and automatically reengage when you release the trigger.
