What is Kent Diamond Shot?

Diamond Shot is Kent Cartridge’s proprietary high-precision lead shot. While the brand’s waterfowl and upland bird cartridges are lead-free, you’ll find Diamond Shot in the Ultimate Turkey range of shotshells.

This technology relies on super-hard, high-antimony lead, which delivers a more uniform pattern than standard lead shot. That consistency can mean more lead landing on-target to take down larger birds.

What Size Shot Should You Use for Turkeys?

All birdshot uses smaller-sized pellets than you’d use for hunting deer or for self-defense, but because turkeys are larger birds, you should use something on the bigger end of the birdshot spectrum. Kent Cartridge’s Ultimate Turkey line typically uses no. 5 shot, which has a diameter of 0.12 inches, but some hunters prefer the slightly larger no. 4 shot.

It’s worth noting that shot size is not the only factor when choosing the right load for your needs. You should also use an appropriate choke. Generally speaking, XX-Full chokes are ideal for turkey hunting because they’re more restrictive, resulting in a tighter pattern at long distances.
