SHOT 2024: Unveiling the Daniel Defense H9 Pistol

Daniel Defense has stepped into the handgun realm with the release of their H9. The Daniel Defense H9 pistol is a first for them, taking the modern striker-fired pistol and marrying it with 1911 ergonomics.

The H9 is a 9mm 1911-style pistol with a 4.28-inch barrel. The stainless steel cold hammer forged barrel improves shot precision. Meanwhile, the H9’s low bore axis lends itself to reduced felt recoil and muzzle flip for faster and more accurate follow-up shots. The pistol’s 7075 aluminum frame is lightweight and durable while the CNC machined slide finishes off the compact sizing. The slide features a carbon steel fiber optic front sight with dovetail cut rear sight. In addition, the H9 is optics ready with an included CNC machined optics mounting plate.

The pistol was designed for modularity, so customization is easy to accomplish. It features a straight-pullback 1911-style trigger that incorporates a safety blade for control and better safety operation. Additionally, it has ambidextrous controls so any shooter can operate it with ease. The pistol’s black anodized aluminum frame includes G10 polymer grip panels. If desired, shooters can remove and swap out the panels. Furthermore, the frame features an accessory rail forward of the trigger guard for mounting lights or lasers.

The Daniel H9 comes from the factory with three 15-round carbon steel double-stack magazines that feature a low-friction finish for smooth operation. The compact H9 pistol is just one inch wide at the slide with an overall length of 7.69 inches. The pistol weighs just under 30 ounces unloaded and comes with the Daniel Defense 100% Satisfaction Guarantee.

The H9 exudes Daniel Defense’s name and quality in a handgun package. The Daniel H9 9mm pistol has an MSRP of $1,299 and will be available soon after its public debut at the 2024 SHOT Show in Vegas.

Patti Miller is one of the most awesome females in the tactical/firearm (or any) industry. Imagine a tall, hawt, dangerous Laura Ingalls Wilder type with cool hair and a suppressed blaster and you'll be getting the idea. What's interesting is that in addition to being a willing brawler and intrepid adventuress, she's also an Ent/Ogier level gardener and a truly badass baker.
