HEVI-Shot, an Oregon-based ammunition manufacturer, has released its newest loads for the HEVI-XII Waterfowl load product line. The HEVI-XII load is the original 12-g/cc tungsten alloy option from HEVI-Shot and the line features a large variety of options for waterfowl hunters. The new loads available are shot sizes No. 2, 4, or 6 for 12- or 20-guage.
The new loads of the HEVI-XII are tungsten, which has been shown to be over 50% denser than its steel counterparts, with a reported density of 12 grams per cubic centimeter 9g/cc). The denser loads mean over double the energy down range, and harder hits at longer distances. According to the company, a shooter can drop three shot sizes for the same lethality and more pellets on target.
According to HEVI-Shot, the HEVI-XII has a tighter pattern for a more lethal pellet spray. Additionally, the line has been improved for cold-weather performance for the user. The company goes on to say the HEVI-XII outperforms steel in every category and is 100% non-toxic.
“Everyone that has shot HEVI-XII has fallen in love with it,” said HEVI-Shot product manager Scott Turner. “The only feedback we received was that some hunters wanted heavier payloads for late season birds, so we delivered on that request with several new options for 2023.”
“HEVI-XII outperforms steel in every category. Smaller and more dense pellets penetrate deeper with more lethal pellets in a tighter pattern compared to shooting steel loads,” continued Turner. “If you pack HEVI-XII in, you’ll walk out carrying extra weight from harvested game. HEVI-XII delivers more kills, fewer cripples, and better stories. Plus, we proudly make the metal alloy and pellets, and load the shotshells the U.S.A.”
The new loads of HEVI-Shot’s HEVI-XII waterfowl line are available now in 25-round boxes. The loads have an MSRP ranging from $74.99 to $94.99, depending on which gauge and shot size.
