Vortex Viper HD Rifle Scopes: New for 2024

Wisconsin-based Vortex Optics first introduced its Viper series in 2006, and for nearly two decades, the line has been expanded with new and improved offerings – setting the bar high among premium rifle scopes. For 2024, Vortex sets its sights even higher with the latest offerings in the Viper HD rifle scope line-up.

These include new 2-10×42, 3-15×44, and 5-25×50 rifle scopes. Each has been optimized with select glass elements to deliver exceptional resolution, cut chromatic aberration, and provide outstanding color fidelity, edge-to-edge sharpness, and light transmission. An illuminated reticle offers precise aiming even under low-light conditions, while the 30mm main tube allows for increased travel.

The 2-10×42 model features a Dead-Hold BDC MOA second focal plane (SFP) reticle. It is simple to use, with an easy-to-find center point of aim for quick shots in low light and low magnification. As it also includes a wire reticle, it can be used without illumination. The 3-15×44 model is available in three offerings—Dead Hold BDC MOA, VRM-3 MOA, or VMR-3 MRAD—and offers a 39.9-feet to 8-feet linear field of view.

Vortex takes it even further with the 5-25×50 model, available with either second focal plane (SFP) or first focal plane (FFP) reticles. The HD 5-25×50 SFP’s subtensions are accurate at 20x, ideal for hunting as they are simple to use, and it is easy to find the center point of aim for quick shots, also in low light and on low magnification – while the FFP reticles scale with magnification, and the subtensions used for ranging, holdovers, and wind corrections will be accurate at all magnifications. FFP reticles are also ideal when greater precision is required because the subtensions are true at all magnifications. That allows for greater speed when holding for wind and elevation. The FPPs feature a glass-etched reticle that can also be used without illumination.

The Dead-Hold BDC offers a customized hashmark design to help eliminate guesswork on holdover and windage correction. It is good for hunting and shooting a ranges where estimating holdover remains a concern.

The VMR-3 was designed to maximize long-distance shooting and ranging abilities, and it can be used to effectively determine ranges, holdovers, windage corrections, and moving target leads. The fine center crosshair subtensions on the VMR-3 reticle provide the optimum balance between precision aiming and low-light visibility.

Vortex Optics’ VMR-4 reticle was designed to maximize long-distance shooting and ranging abilities, and it can be used to effectively determine ranges, holdovers, windage corrections, and moving target leads. Ultra-precision laser etching on the glass reticle ensures that specifications are kept to the tightest tolerances possible, while the fine center crosshair subtensions on the VMR-4 reticle were carefully chosen to provide the optimum balance between precision aiming and low-light visibility. It also includes windage reference dots on the drop line.

The Vortex Optics’ new additions to the Viper HD line are available now, with MAT ranging from $599.99 to $999.99.
