The Ruger Mini-14 Tactical Returns for 2024

It is all too often said, “They don’t make ’em like they used to.” However, the fine folks at Ruger might take issue with that statement. As the company celebrates its 75th anniversary this year, it has introduced a true blast from the past – the Ruger Mini-14 Tactical. This is a modern take on the iconic stainless Ruger Mini-14 Government Barrel, Folding Stock (GB-F), which became legendary thanks to appearances on TV’s “The A-Team.”

This latest edition to the Mini-14 Tactical series is chambered for the 5.56 NATO cartridge and features the simple yet rugged Garand-style action with a breech bolt locking system. The new 5895 model utilizes the proven fixed-piston gas system self-cleaning moving gas cylinder, and cold hammer-forged threaded barrel with a factory-installed flash suppressor.

Ruger Mini-14 Tactical
Everything old is new again – especially when it is the Ruger Mini-14 Tactical!

It features the same matte stainless finish, walnut with stainless side-folding stock – made from original Ruger casting tooling – and injection molded polymer pistol grip as the Mini-14 GB-F.

The new Ruger Mini-14 Tactical is also fitted with integral scope mounts that are machined directly on the solid steel receiver to provide a stable mounting surface for included scope rings and to further eliminate any potential source of looseness and inaccuracy in the field. It offers an accurate sighting system with a ghost ring rear aperture sight and a non-glare, protected blade front sight with a bayonet lug, while the receiver is also drilled and tapped for mounting an included Picatinny rail.
