The Montana Rifle Company Releases the 2022 Highline Rifle

The Montana Rifle Company prides itself on rifles that are made entirely in-house and with a 1/2 MOA accuracy guarantee to boot. Their Junction bolt-action hunting rifle is made by Grace Engineering in Memphis, Michigan one at a time and tested for accuracy before shipping can happen. Talk about a dedication to quality.

Now, for 2024, the Montana Rifle Company is releasing the all-new 2022 Highline rifle.

Quick Specs:

  • Model: Highland
  • Caliber: 6.5 Creedmoor; .308 Winchester
  • Capacity: 5+1
  • Twist Rate: 1:8 (6.5); 1:10 (.308)
  • Barrel Length: 24 inches
  • Overall Length: 45 1/4 inches
  • Weight: 6.8 lbs. (unloaded, no optic)

The Highline rifle is based on the venerable pre-1964 Winchester Model 70 and the Mauser platforms. It features a similar three-position safety and a massive extractor that facilitates a controlled feed of the rounds from the magazine into the chamber. This foolproof setup is backed up by a Model 70-like adjustable trigger that comes from the factory set at 3 lbs., but can be brought down an extra pound.

The adjustable trigger, paired with a McMillan Game Hunter carbon fiber stock and a proprietary bronze-Cerakoted 24-inch hand-lapped barrel, makes the Highland an inherently accurate setup. Although this setup might be best when paired with a good bipod as a long-range shooter, the Highland is surprisingly light for its size, weighing in at just 6.8 lbs. Throw in a quality optic on the integral Picatinny rail and you can still be mobile in the field with a rifle that comes in at under nine pounds.

“As we are getting into spring, big game hunters are starting to look ahead to their hunting seasons, and we have seen that the Highline is quickly, and quietly becoming a common choice for hunters,” said Grace Engineering President, Matt Grace, “We couldn’t be more pleased at how the re-launch of Montana Rifle Company has gone, and now are eagerly awaiting to see photos of our customer’s success in the field.”

The new 2022 Highland rifle is now available in 6.5 Creedmoor and .308 Winchester with an MSRP of $2495. For 2024, versions 6.5 PRC, 7mm PRC, and .300 Winchester Magnum are forthcoming. The Montana Rifle Company states that future chamberings will include .270 Winchester, .280 Ackley, .28 Nosler, 7mm Remington Magnum, .300 Remington Ultra Magnum, and .375 Holland & Holland.
