Taurus Reintroduces the 917C Pistol

It’s always nice when a gun manufacturer listens to the customers by bringing back a popular gun. In response to countless requests by shooters of all backgrounds and disciplines, Taurus is pleased to reintroduce the 917C pistol. The Taurus 917C is a compact handgun with a full-sized capacity that’s great for personal defense and range use. It was first introduced more than 2 decades ago and enjoyed significant popularity before it went out of production. Now it’s back, and it’s better than ever.

This pistol is the compact version of the Taurus 92, and despite its smaller dimension it’s made to hold 18 rounds. The Taurus 917C is now making its triumphant return to the United States market where it will undoubtedly make a lot of fans happy. During its original release years back, the gun was extremely popular with gun owners thanks to its compact size, easy shooting design, and accessory rail. Unlike many compact double-action/single-actions, the Taurus 917C is compatible with full-size weapon lights and other aftermarket accessories. This exponentially broadens its versatility and applications. In addition, the 917C is compatible with Taurus 92 style magazines, making it easy to keep spare mags on hand.

Caleb Giddings, General Manager of Marketing for Taurus USA, said:

I actually had one of the original 917C pistols all those years ago, and I regret selling it. I’m a huge fan of traditional double-action semi-autos like the Taurus 92, so bringing back the 917C makes a ton of sense to me. I can’t wait to put some serious rounds downrange out of this.

This is a 9mm compact pistol with features similar to those of the Taurus 92. Thanks to its greater capacity and size it’s a good option for carry but can also be used for home defense and range time. The gun has a flat face trigger, serrations at the rearward portion of the slide, and a reversible magazine release. Guns ship with standard drift adjustable rear sights and integral front sights. The safety on the 917C is ambidextrous.

MSRP for the Taurus 917C is $599.99.
