The Springfield Armory Professional 1911 has been the go-to sidearm for the FBI’s Hostage Rescue Team, but now firearms enthusiasts won’t need to take part in a training course at FBI Quantico. Springfield Armory has introduced six models that draw inspiration from the HRT’s choice of pistol.
The Tactical Response Pistol (TRP) was developed to deliver the features and performance of the FBI’s custom pistol in the semi-custom category, resulting in a hard-use 1911 platform for everyday carry or a day at the range. Designed to deliver both form and function, the TRP is a modern take on a proven classic.
The pistols begin with a forged frame and slide for strength and durability, while each pair is then hand-selected for slide-to-frame fit and numbered, and the matching components are married throughout the build process – resulting in a premium fit, with refined blending and rock-solid performance. The six TRP .45 ACP models for 2024 include two Classic models, two Rail models, and two Carry Contour models.
It is often hard to improve upon a classic, but Springfield Armory has provided both a 5-inch and 4.25-each mode, each featuring all-steel construction as well as two-piece magwells. Each also features 20 line-per-inch (LPI) checkering for a firm grip as well as top slide serrations for reduced glare and faster sight alignment.

Both Rail models are 5-inch all-steel handguns with two-piece magwells and a Picatinny rail on the dust cover. Offered in Black or Coyote Brown finishes, the combat-driven feature set is enhanced with the accessory rail for adaptability.
