SilencerCo has released its newest suppressor, the first of a kind for the company, which is completely constructed of titanium. This suppressor is heralded as extremely light and short for a 30-caliber suppressor while maintaining impressive sound suppression.
The Scythe-Ti weighs a little over six ounces and is only six inches long, which is incredible for a 30-caliber suppressor. The company states that the suppressor maintains a feather-like weight while giving the sound suppression the user needs. It has no barrel length restrictions and is rated up to .300 RUM.
“Titanium has a lot of benefits over other materials,” said SilencerCo Product Manager Andrew Herbst. “Not only is it freakishly lightweight, but it also cools down a lot quicker than steel so it’s easier to handle after shooting. Plus it looks sleek.”
The suppressor has a Type II Anodized finish which is rubbed with oil for resistance to chipping or flaking. According to SilencerCo, the suppressor is anodized on both the inside and the outside to reduce the sparking that happens with titanium suppressors. The Scythe-Ti replaces the wrench flats with a special tool that threads onto the suppressor to aid in detachment.
The suppressor has a new single-port anchor brake that helps with recoil reduction without compromising the overall length. It comes standard with a 5/8×24 direct thread mount to keep the weight down as well.
“When we started our testing for the Scythe-Ti, we were aiming to dominate the titanium market in minimal weight and length,” said Herbst. “We were happily surprised when we found out that the Scythe-Ti also dominates in sound suppression. Overall, it’s a very well-rounded suppressor.”
The Scythe-Ti is rated for calibers from .223 REM/5.56 NATO up through .300 RUM, in bolt-gun and semi-auto firearms. Note that it isn’t rated for full-auto fire. When tested with the SilencerCo ASR Mount, the Scythe-Ti was the quietest suppressor the company had tested on .300 WM. The suppressor pairs with Bravo accessories and mounting systems so the options are endless.
The SilencerCo Scythe-Ti suppressor is a great choice for suppressed hunting, long-range precision shooting, or range days. It will be shipping to dealers later this month and has an MSRP of $1,174.
