Stoeger Industries celebrates a century in business this year, and it’s pulling out all the stops for 2024. Their STR-9 series of polymer-frame striker-fired handguns – which launched five years ago – were quickly noted for their simplicity and reliability. Accordingly, Stoeger has now expanded the line with the STR-9 Combat X.
Developed to exceed international military standards, the new pistol was configured to meet any mission requirement. The STR-9 Combat X also stands apart as it features a distinctively longer frame that extends to the front of the slide while incorporating a three-slot accessory rail for a light or laser. It also includes an enhanced grip beavertail for maximum stability during sustained firing.
The straight front strap features dual stippling patterns across the grip. This provides no-slip traction whether carried with bare hands or gloves. An interchangeable backstrap customizes the grip to hand size and glove use. Meanwhile, the focus on ergonomics continues with an undercut trigger guard and oversized mag well for faster magazine swaps. The ambidextrous slide stop lever stands proud on the frame to speed up mag drops without losing grip position. Finally, the slide stope lever also provides comfortable operation for both left and right-handed shooters.
“The STR-9 Combat X is validated for 10,000 rounds of continuous fire without failure. This exceptional defensive performance comes courtesy of precision-manufactured and robust trigger and slide internals combined with a newly designed barrel and black nitride-finished slide combination,” the company announced.
In keeping with its “ready for anything” mission, the Combat X hosts an adjustable fiber-optic sight system that includes a slide cut with a cover plate. The gun also features additional adapter plates to accommodate the most popular pistol red dots on the market today.
