Alien Gear Holsters announced their newest product in advance of the AUSA (Association of the United States Army) show, where it will be launching. The Alien Gear Holsters Double Duty TAQ-STRAP is the company’s latest design, and it is being advertised as an alternative to a traditional tourniquet. It will be officially launched at AUSA later this month.
Alien Gear Holsters states the TAQ-STRAP is a first-of-its-kind lifesaving product that’s made to fill a “care under fire” gap in combat medicine. The product is a 1.5-inch nylon strap made to replace standard straps found in duty holsters, drop-leg mounts, and other tactical gear. According to the manufacturer, one of the things that sets this design apart is an external “load bearing” strap and an internal constricting strap. These straps are designed to allow the user to apply direct circumferential pressure to the limb with no need to remove gear.
The system is made for the user to already be wearing the holster strap at a high and tight position so it might act as a hasty tourniquet that could be applied in under five seconds. Alien Gear says this allows the user to remain engaged while operating the ratcheting mechanism. This system is made with M2 Inc. ratcheting technology.
TAQ-STRAP is compatible with all Alien Gear Holster Drop Leg platforms and most of the common Double Strap, Single Strap, and Drop Leg holsters produced by other manufacturers. Alien Gear recommends that while one strap should be used on the dominant leg with a holster it is also a good idea for the less dominant leg to be protected with a second TAQ-STRAP. A second strap can be worn using an included belt loop. The straps can also be worn with a Taser holster, gas mask bags, I-FAKs, and body-attached medical bags using 1.5-inch or larger straps. The TAQ-STRAP is available in black or tan.
MSRP for the Alien Gear Holsters Double Duty TAQ-STRAP is not known at this time.
