Voodoo Tactical 3-Way Deployment Bag: Cheap and Reliable

The enhanced Voodoo Tactical 3-Way Deployment Bag is a great little bag that’s hard to beat for the price. Depending on what type of gear you plan to carry and the task/mission you need to accomplish, this bag is a must-have. Because of its design, photos often make it look much larger than it really is. Overall, this bag is only 12 inches wide, 7 inches tall, and without any gear, 2 inches thick. It’s larger than a fanny pack but not a duffle or backpack-sized bag.

This bag has multiple purposes, which we will discuss below. But first, let’s talk about why you may need another bag.

You may have ideas for such a bag or be browsing the web looking for some cool tactical gear. If you do any hiking, hunting, camping, or tactical/combat training, it’s good to be prepared. And we all know keeping the right gear on us is important. But finding that happy medium is not always easy, right?

Carry too much stuff, and you’re stomping around with an entire survival store packed in your bag. No one wants to be “that guy,” so we start looking for ways to carry the essential items. Most of the time, light gear and maneuverability are the key. That’s where the Voodoo Tactical Deployment Bag comes in handy. It’s small enough to carry in different ways and easy to keep stored in a vehicle or other places when not needed.

Details about the Voodoo Tactical 3-Way Deployment Bag

When I said this was a smaller-sized bag, I wasn’t joking. It really is just a little bit bigger than a fanny pack. But that’s what I like about it so much. I have a ton of other bags that are compact to monster size. But sometimes you need a small bag for specific things that are light and portable. The first thing to note about the Deployment Bag is that it’s incredibly cheap. But I’m talking about price, not quality. Most of the time, you can find this bag for about $40 or less.

The bag is made of a heavy canvas material with a sewn-on web carry handle. Besides the carry handle, it also has a shoulder strap and MOLLE attachments on the back for additional carry options. In fact, the bag gets its name from these three carry options. It has a total of four compartments with self-repairing zippers. When a zipper comes apart, it makes the entire bag useless. But a self-healing zipper fixes itself when you zip and unzip the bag.

Two of the four compartments are located on each end of the bag. These are the smallest compartments on the bag and measure about 6 inches tall by 2.5 inches wide when pushed open. The middle compartment, which is the largest, is about 9 inches wide and has a mesh divider for separating items. The last compartment on the 3-way bag is the front pocket. This one is 7 inches wide by 5 inches tall. It also has a canvas divider and two small pockets on the inside of the compartment.

Purposes for the Voodoo Tactical Deployment Bag

So, what can you do with the bag? Because it has MOLLE on the back and a removable shoulder strap, it’s perfect for multiple functions. I personally don’t see the need for the carry handle because the bag’s so small, but it doesn’t hurt to have it on there, either. Two plastic buckles attached to the carry handle help support it when it’s full. Here are a few different purposes this bag could be used for:

Medical Supply Bag

This would make a great compact medical bag for just about anyone. You can attach it to a larger bag with the MOLLE or throw it over your shoulder with the strap and keep it with you anywhere. I have several larger bags with medical supplies in them. But when I want to use a different bag, I must move the supplies or re-stock the other bag. With the MOLLE attachments, I can move the Deployment Bag from one backpack to another.

I was able to fit a tourniquet in one of the side compartments and two self-sticking compression rolls in the other. In the very center, I placed an Israeli bandage, two quick-clot bandages, and some gauze pads. The front compartment was perfect for some band-aids, tweezers, disinfectant wipes, and other smaller items. Of course, this isn’t large enough to fit everything from a full field medical kit, but it’s nice for a compact med kit.

Compact Range Bag

I usually use my large GPS range bag when heading to the shooting range for training. But sometimes, it’s nice to have a small shooting range kit that doesn’t take up a lot of room. If I’m doing some plinking and I don’t need all my gear, this bag works well. It’s not large enough to hold most full-size ear protection. But if you use foam or electronic earplugs at the range, it’s perfect. I can fit my range finder, compact staple gun, safety glasses, ear plugs, and several pistol mags, and I still have room for a few more items.

EDC/CCW Bag

While the Deployment Bag isn’t large enough for a full-size gun and holster, it will fit a compact-size handgun. This one could work for those wanting a compact EDC (everyday carry) bag. The shoulder strap is long enough to wear cross-body and has room for a few essential EDC items. I was able to fit my M&P Shield 2.0, extra magazine, tourniquet, Streamlight Wedge flashlight, and Benchmade Mini-Adamas in it.

Tactical Purse?

This Deployment Bag could also be perfect for ladies wanting a tactical-style purse. When using the shoulder strap, you can run the carry handle buckles underneath the bag. When they are buckled underneath, the straps are out of the way of the zipper pockets. The middle and front compartments are large enough to hold a coin purse, keys, cell phone, makeup, and other items. You could still fit a micro-compact pistol for those wanting to carry a CCW weapon, as well.

Need a small compact bag?

For the price, the Voodoo Tactial Deployment Bag is just a handy bag that’s hard to turn down. It has multiple uses, and because of its size, it’s easy to store when not in use. It has double stitching around the pockets, oversized zippers, and a 1.5-inch canvas shoulder strap. For those who want to attach it to another bag or tactical vest, it has five MOLLE straps with metal snap closures. You can’t really have too many bags and this one is a great addition to any collection. Buy yourself one, or it would make a great gift as well. For $40, you can’t really go wrong.
