Trijicon’s New RMR HD Optics

Trijicon has upped the game for RMR optics yet again. After basically setting the bar for what an RMR optic should be, the company has released the new RMR HD. The new optic is specifically designed to meet the needs of law enforcement, personal defense folks, and armed forces personnel.

Taking the basis of the RMR Adjustable LED model, the new RMR HD has an oversized clear lens from tempered glass with the same footprint as the RMR. The large lens allows for an unobstructed view of the target for the user and is said to allow finding and tracking easier with the reticle. There are two different models to choose from, one with a 1.0 MOA and the other has a 3.25 MOA center dot.

Speaking of MOA, the RMR HD reticle can be toggled between a 55 MOA segmented circle reticle with a center dot and a crisp dot-only option. Either setting selected has a new super bright setting along with a night vision setting for use in both day and night. In fact, there are night brightness settings that can be controlled by using the larger buttons making it easy to get to the setting the shooter needs. Additionally, there is a “lock-in” option that keeps the last setting selected for future use, as needed.

The RMR HD has an auto mode that automatically adjusts the dot brightness thanks to the advanced forward-looking light sensor. When using this mode, the user can even use a weapon light and the optic will adjust to that extra light as well. This setting also has a “lock out” mode to keep the optic in auto mode if a button is accidentally pressed.

The RMR HD from Trijicon is compatible with all existing RMR mounts, optics-ready pistols, as well as many existing optics-ready duty holsters. The 7075-T6 aluminum housing absorbs recoil and impacts while protecting the lens. The sizing of the RMR HD work with optic-height co-witness sights for current RMR or SRO optics. The RMR HD optic has a top-loading battery compartment, housing one CR2032 battery, making it easy to swap out the battery without the hassle of having to re-zero the optic.

Either model of the Trijicon RMR HD optic is American-made and comes with a modest MSRP of $849.

Patti Miller is one of the most awesome females in the tactical/firearm (or any) industry. Imagine a tall, hawt, dangerous Laura Ingalls Wilder type with cool hair and a suppressed blaster and you'll be getting the idea. What's interesting is that in addition to being a willing brawler and intrepid adventuress, she's also an Ent/Ogier level gardener and a truly badass baker.
