Springfield Armory is bringing optics-ready technology to their famed version of the 1911. In partnership with Agency Arms, Springfield has announced the 1911 AOS, a package available for their Operator, Emissary, and Ronin in 9mm Luger and .45 ACP.
The Springfield 1911 Agency Optic System pistols blend the proven ergonomics and capability of the single-stack 1911 with the capacity for a reflex sight for effortless target acquisition and longer distance shooting in all types of weather and lighting.
The existing Springfield Operator, Emissary, and Ronin models now come from the factory with an integral cover plate/rear sight that gives way for a set of Agency Arms billeted steel footprint plates to cover the most common optics platforms available for pistols, including Trijicon RMR, Shield Arms, Delta Point, and Docter footprinted optics.
“The 1911 is easily the most respected — and proven — pistol in history,” said Steve Kramer, the VP of Marketing for Springfield Armory. “With the new 1911 AOS, Springfield Armory is taking a revered 20th-century design and updating it for the 21st century with the ability to accept a wide range of today’s most advanced optics.”
The 1911 AOS platform is available with either a 4.25-inch or 5-inch barrel. The previously all-steel Operator is also reintroduced as the Operator AOS with a 4.25-inch barrel and a lighter aluminum frame. These new models are now shipping and have an MSRP starting at $978. For a limited time, Springfield is discounting the purchase of additional optics plates from the Springfield Store from $80 to $49 with the purchase of a 1911 AOS handgun.
