The New Marlin 1894 Trapper .357 Magnum Carbine

The Marlin 1894 is a classic lever-action rifle with a decades’ long track record. After a brief hiatus, Ruger reintroduced the 1894 in .44 Magnum in 2023. New for 2024 is the Model 1894 Trapper chambered in .357 Magnum.

The Marlin 1894 Trapper line is an all-stainless-steel carbine paired with checkered and laminated stocks for the best possible weatherproofing. It also comes with an enlarged lever loop for use with gloved hands, as well as a short 16-inch barrel mounted with a pair of rock-solid Skinner sights.

The Trapper has been reintroduced in the Model 1895 in .45-70 Govt and the quintessential Model 336 in .30-30. The 1894 Trapper was relaunched in .44 Magnum. Now, it is back in .357 Magnum and perhaps better than ever.

The 1894 Trapper in .357 Magnum makes for an excellent 100-yard deer rifle, youth rifle, and even as a home defense rifle. The Trapper features a side loading gate and a tubular magazine that holds ten rounds of .357 Magnum. Throw in an extra round if you want to shoot the lower recoiling .38 Special cartridge. The 16-inch round barrel has been updated with 1/2×28-inch threads to accommodate a suppressor.

Like the previous generation of 1894s, the new Marlin Trapper has a rebounding hammer backed up by a manual cross-bolt safety for added redundancy. The black laminate buttstock and forend are checkered at the pistol grip, and the forend is capped with one of two sling studs for easy sling mounting.

The new Marlin 1894 is now available in either .44 Magnum or .357 Magnum. Both are otherwise identical and come with an MSRP of $1,499.
