Whether you’re a 1911 fan or not, there’s something awesome about custom 1911 platform pistols. The attention to detail and unique design options make custom pistols fantastic eye candy, but they also tend to make you want to add one to your collection. TALO’s Colt Custom exclusive Rose Gold is a great example of a beautifully executed custom gun, from its crisp serrations to its shiny finish.
TALO released details of the exclusive 1911:
Colt was TALO’s first limited edition partner in the late 1990s. With the factory’s cooperation, TALO editions have caught the attention of a wide range of Colt collectors. TALO is fortunate to have some well known and talented engravers work on their designs. Master Engravers, Lee Griffiths, Brian Pawley, Ben Lane, Ray Armand, David Riccardo have all provided designs for TALO projects.
The manufacturer went on to say:
The Colt Custom 38 Super in Rose Gold is a beautiful take on an upgraded 1911. The Series 80 pistol is finished in a highly polished Rose Gold PVD with upgraded Pearlite grips with a gold medallion. It has a 5” barrel with 9+1 capacity.
This is a Government sized 1911, meaning it has a five-inch barrel and a full-size frame. The nice thing about Governments is that their larger size can give you a slight edge for accuracy and provides a more comfortable gripping surface for most hand sizes. This particular gun is chambered in 38 Super, a cartridge that’s seeing an uptick in popularity. That doesn’t mean the 38 Super is new by any means; the cartridge was designed in 1929 by Colt themselves and has remained in production for nearly a century.
Other features include a 9 +1 capacity, upright, rearward slide serrations, and a hammer with a grooved surface for easier operation.
The 38 Super Rose Gold pistol, which is available exclusively from TALO, is a Series 80 1911. That means the gun has a firing pin safety and safety block, and hammer shelf, among other internal differences from a Series 70. The changes to the trigger and safety mechanisms in the Series 80 created a slight change in the feel of the trigger pull, but the triggers remain clean, crisp, and pleasant to shoot when properly designed. The trigger on this Rose Gold model has a curved, ridged face for firmer contact with the trigger finger.
The TALO Rose Gold in 38 Super is meant to be used, so don’t keep it as a safe queen. It might be nice to look at, but it’s also designed to perform. 38 Super is a great cartridge and this gun could be used for everything from home defense to daily carry to range use.
