Ruger Expands the Ruger American Rifle Gen II Lineup

The Ruger American rifle has been making in-roads in the budget bolt-action hunting rifle market since the 2010s. At SHOT Show 2024, Ruger rolled out an updated Generation II model. The Gen II features a fluted barrel for superior cooling between shots, an enlarged bolt handle and magazine release, a muzzle brake to reduce felt recoil, and an upgraded high comb buttstock. Now, Ruger is rolling out 18 new configurations to cover their existing lineup of their American Standard and Ranch rifles, as well as the new Predator line.

The Ruger American Predator lineup is chambered in calibers varying from the zany .204 Ruger to the big-game-ready .300 Winchester Magnum. The 22-inch fluted stainless-steel barrel wears a bronze Cerakote finish. Like others in the Gen II lineup, the Predator wears buttstock that features an adjustable comb and length of pull, except in an olive drab color. The rifle comes with an adjustable 3-5 lb. trigger and a familiar three-position tang safety. The Predator model wears a section of Picatinny rail to mount the optic of your choice without having to chase down a specific mount.

The Ruger American Predator Gen II features a factory capacity of 3-10 rounds. In larger calibers like 6.5 Creedmoor and .308 Winchester, the Predator takes AI-style magazines. But models in .223 Remington, .350 Legend, .400 Legend, and .450 Bushmaster use AR magazines. These new rifles are now cataloged and shipping to dealers near you with an MSRP of $729.
