New: Radian Weapons Optics Mount/Back-Up Sights

Red dot sights have become the norm for everything from self-defense guns to competition to your average range day. Of course, that doesn’t mean gun owners want to give up iron sights entirely. The Radian Weapons Optics Mount and Back-Up Sights system is designed to make it easier than ever for gun owners to utilize both red dot sights and iron sights as needed. These sights are made to last and designed to deliver a reliable focusing point, regardless of the optic or sight platform the shooter chooses.

The Guardian + SIX is designed to set a new standard in pistol optic mounting systems. It offers quite a few benefits to pistol owners including enhanced protection, strength, reliability, and versatility.

Part of the inspiration for this product is the fact that most conventional plates lack comprehensive protection for red dot sights and often have inherent vulnerabilities in their mounting hardware. This can lead to numerous issues including screws coming loose or shearing off due to the force of live fire. The Guardian is made to address these concerns by offering a more durable and carefully designed product. For example, it’s crafted with precision from 7075 aluminum and 17-4 stainless steel for durability and resistance to wear.

Radian Weapons states that the proprietary Tru-Seal technology used on the Guardian employs o-rings for the purpose of maintaining a watertight seal between the plate and the slide. This feature effectively shields against moisture infiltration and prevents thread corrosion while also eliminating the need for an additional sealing plate.

Another key feature of the Guardian is its Stud-Lok interface, which is designed to offer greater than double the thread engagement of conventional threaded plates. Secure attachment is facilitated with the use of oversized Torx sleeve nuts with self-locking threads. This creates what Radian Weapons says is a superior torque-down mechanism that pulls the optic rearward against the recoil bosses, as well as firmly against the plate for a rigid mounting interface. This interface allows the plate and guard to be made from high-strength 7075 aluminum, which is also lighter weight than many metals, meaning the plate itself is lighter than average.

The integration of the SIX back-up sights creates an even better system. The SIX is made with an ‘Irons Forward’ design with the optional back-up sights made to align with the red dot sight for an unobstructed sight picture through the optic. This configuration makes it possible for the shooter to execute seamless transitions between sighting systems meaning greater overall accuracy and faster target acquisition speed.

We identified the shortcomings of existing pistol optic mounting systems and engineered a solution that not only resolves those issues, but also elevates the overall shooting experience. The Guardian provides unmatched protection, enhancing functional performance and reliability, truly embodying the spirit of Radian’s commitment to innovation.”

MSRP for the Radian Weapons Guardian and Six is set at $209.95.
