Choosing the right optic for your gun can be a bit of a challenge, but it doesn’t have to be. Thanks to the team at Holosun, there are more handgun optics than ever, and now there’s another great one for the Heckler & Koch VP9: the Direct Mount SCS. This latest optic from Holosun is a direct-mount green dot sight specifically made for the VP9 and offers a host of features to recommend its use.
According to Holosun, their new SCS-VP9-GR (Solar Charging Sight) is made specifically for H&K VP9 handguns that are optics-ready. The optic is designed to mount directly to the gun’s slide with no need for an adapter plate, creating a simple, straightforward attachment process. For the purpose of reticle illumination, the sight utilizes multidirectional light sensors along with a solar charging system that detects available light and adjusts accordingly.
The SCS is made to operate indefinitely thanks to an internal, rechargeable 20,000-hour battery, effectively removing the concern many shooters have about battery life as they relate to optics. And while brightness is automatically calibrated, there is an intensity override function that locks the optic in high-brightness mode for half an hour.
The sight features a reticle with three options: MRS 32 MOA circle with 2 MOA dot, standalone 2 MOA dot, or standalone 32 MOA circle. Adjustments for the SCS dot are 1 MOA per click with +/- 30 MOA travel range, and the sight is designed for clear adjustments. Other features include a rugged 7075 T6 aluminum housing and an IP67 waterproof rating. This rating means the SCS-VP9 optic is capable of withstanding wet weather in general. This sight has a 0.77×0.58 inch optical window for a good field of view but remains compact enough overall to be easy to use on carry guns.
