Dan Wesson 1911 Specialist: Optics Ready

Dan Wesson created the 1911 Specialist Optics-Ready to make the use of red dots easy. This is accomplished thanks to a cut in its slide and costs only a fraction more than the Specialist base model. The Optics-Ready model not only offers fantastic performance and reliability but is made to save gun owners time and money on custom gunsmithing. Dan Wesson offers optics plates for the RMR, DPP, and Viper systems so users can mount their favorite red dot fast.

This is a high-performance gun featuring custom-level fitting and premium parts. It begins with a forged, hand-fit frame and slide and includes a quality, match-grade barrel chambered in 45 ACP. According to Dan Wesson, the 1911 Specialist Optics-Ready is made for flawless function and superb accuracy. The gun has a durable duty finish that doesn’t draw attention and is made to withstand significant use-related wear. An inverted top rib is incorporated to cut down on glare. As for sights, the gun ships with a fixed Novak-style front night sight and a serrated tactical rear sight that can be used to co-witness with the red dot if the user desires.

Features include an integral 1913 Picatinny rail in front of the trigger guard for mounting lights or lasers. The front strap has 25 LPI checkering for a sure grip during live fire and an undercut trigger guard makes recoil control easier. In addition, a recessed slide stop makes it possible to install laser grips. Operator-friendly ambidextrous thumb and grip safeties also come standard.

An extended magazine release and magwell facilitate fast reloads. Dan Wesson also uses a solid trigger with a serrated face for a classic look and feel. And for a better grip, the gun has G10 VZ Operator II grips to guide the hand into the beavertail and help keep it there.
