Bulldog AR Go Sling Bag: Multi-Purpose Bag for Rapid Deployment

Tactical bags are great for a lot of things. They carry medical supplies, ammo, weapons, and more. I have a lot of different size bags for different purposes, but bags are a little like guns to me. You can’t really have too many. The Bulldog AR Go Sling Bag is different than the rest of them and worth checking out.

After using the AR Go Sling Bag for a while, I have found it works best for me as a rapid deployment bag from my vehicle. It’s got multiple pockets on the inside and MOLLE attachments can go anywhere on the outside. What makes this bag convenient is its size and single-shoulder sling. Most tactical bags are designed to be carried on your back, but the Bulldog sling bag can be carried on your side and double as a mag pouch, rifle sling, medical bag, or anything else you need.

It has some built-in features which we will cover shortly. This could double as a standard carry bag for those wanting to conceal a handgun in public places, but I chose to use it as a rapid deployment bag. Because of the PALS on the outside of the go-bag, it does have a “tactical” look to it but not so much that it would stand out while wearing it in public.

I have a small backpack to conceal a handgun and spare mag but the problem with a backpack is you carry it on your back. It’s more convenient for carrying, but less convenient if you need access to your gun. The Bulldog case keeps everything at your side within reach.

Carrying a Gun in the Bulldog Go Sling Bag

This bag was made to carry a concealed weapon while providing room for other items you need to stash away too. This could be a phone, tourniquet, car keys, etc. It’s especially nice on those hot days when you are wearing shorts that make carrying a gun difficult. There are three main sections to this bag with smaller pouches on each end. The first section (closest to the strap) has a patch of Velcro for attaching a holster.

It even comes with a removable universal holster. This allows you to position a gun where you want it inside the pocket. I placed several guns inside the bag to see what size would fit the best. I could fit my Glock 19, but anything larger was a little hard to get in and out. Medium frame and compact guns worked the best for me.

The Glock 43X, Ruger Max9, Kimber Micro 9, and most other guns in that size worked great in the holster and zipper compartment. Larger guns could work, but the holster may need readjusting so that the gun is carried horizontally instead of vertically in the bag. This does make the gun harder to draw. It also means the gun is not pointing down, which is my preferred way to carry one.

The zippers are easy to use. However, I would have liked to see a larger “pull tab” on the section that carries the gun. If you need to draw your gun quickly and reach for a zipper, there are several to choose from because there are three sections that all have two sets of zippers.

Ammo and Other Items in the Bulldog Go Sling Bag

Because the Bulldog Go-Bag was designed to carry a handgun, it also has a place for carrying extra magazines. The third section (on the outside of the bag) is the smallest of the three. It has three built-in mag pouches that are large enough to hold most full-size handgun mags.

The mag pouches are sewn on the inside of the pocket, leaving room for additional items. I was concerned about smaller mags being hard to draw from the mag holder because they are on the larger side. Even though a compact magazine does not stick up out of the mag holder, there is enough room for your fingers to grab it. I carried a Kimber Micro 9 with three extra mags in the Bulldog Go-Bag and found them easy to access.

I also carried a medium size flashlight in the same pouch as the magazines. When worn on the left side, it makes it easy to reach mags and anything in the outside pocket. The gun was easy to draw with the right hand as well. The bag works with full-size guns, but you can tell a difference in weight when you add the gun and three full-size mags.

Center Storage Area and End Pockets

The largest compartment of the three is the center one. It not only has plenty of storage space but also contains PALLS on one side for MOLLE-compatible devices. There are also two long skinny pouches that could hold ink pens or a pen light. The inside area is large enough to mount an AR-15 double mag pouch or anything else you want to carry in the bag.

It can double as a range bag and hold ear protection, extra ammo, and glasses. It also works great for random stuff you want to keep close by. At the mall, I was able to hold my wallet, phone, sunglasses, and a few things we purchased at stores. If you carry it over your shoulder and keep your personal items in it, your wife will start calling it your man purse so be warned.

The pouches on each end are large enough to hold cell phones, a tourniquet, a small cleaning kit, or anything else around that size. I kept a tourniquet in one pouch and hand sanitizer in the other because I’m a germaphobe at times. MOLLE-compatible items can be attached to the front and back along with the sides. If you want to set this up as a quick-response combat bag, mag holders for a rifle fit nicely on the side and pistol mag holders would fit on the ends.

Summary

The Bulldog Go-Bag is a perfect size for carrying your favorite handgun and mags without taking up too much room. The material is heavy, and the quality appears to be top-notch. The single shoulder strap has an adjustable shoulder pad and a release clip for emergencies. The side of the bag that goes against your body has mesh padding to help stay cool in warm weather.

This really is the perfect size bag for carrying a handgun or keeping in a car for emergencies. I like that it comes with a Velcro holster for the inside compartment and the built-in pistol mag pouches are great. The only thing I would like to see different with this bag is a large zipper tab on the compartment that holds the gun for quicker access. Overall, this is a quality bag that will hold up to long-term use. If you’re in the market for another bag, give the Bulldog Go-Bag a try.
