Pivoting Portability: the Trailblazer Pack9 Functional Form Feature

The Trailblazer Pack9 is a pivoting and folding 9mm PCC from the same company that built the .22 “Lifecard” pistol. Unlike its sub-pocket-sized predecessor, the Pack9 is a rifle chambered in 9mm.

It still folds up pretty small though.

The new PCC utilizes what Trailblazer Firearms calls “The Pivot” to decrease the weapon’s size and increase portability.

Trailblazer described the Pack9 in their release:

Designed to maximize portability, the Pack9 is less than 21” long when folded. A collapsible stock gives the Pack9 a full length of pull when the rifle is unfolded with the stock fully extended.  Weighing approximately 5 lbs., the Pack9 is 5.9” tall and as thin as many modern handguns, with a width of only 1.15”.

The aluminum upper features an integral MILSpec Picatinny rail that is optics ready. A second magazine stores securely in the glass-filled nylon stock. The 16” button-rifled, threaded steel barrel with a 1/10-inch twist comes standard.

Aaron Voigt, president founder of Trailblazer Firearms explains,

In 2010, I came up with the crazy idea to fit a pistol in a candy tin, and that same innovative spirit that brought you the LifeCard now brings you the Pack9. We believe the years of work poured into the Pack9 have resulted in a 9mm rifle at the intersection of design, innovation, performance, and survival.

  1. It’s unique for sure but was all that mechanics worth 6 inches. That’s the difference folded to unfolded. IMO a retractable stock does almost the same thing. Honestly the thing resembles a tavor 7 bullpup in it’s unfolded state. Looks like a kel-tec unfolded. Its neat if it’s nothing else. The Magpul box gun was really cool.

    1. Smitty – I asked the same question on another site review of this critter. Not able to find it so far. That detail would be crucial to determine if it is a viable substitute for the Keltec Sub 2000 or the Ruger take down……………….both of which are much smaller.

  2. Never have I ever asked this question before of a firearm–but: why? Every shootist worth their salt is going to twitch looking down the muzzle before flipping it. And the other comment has it right–all that fuss and bother for six inches shorter? Sub2K is both lighter overall and shorter folded. And intuitively hinged in the middle. Would consider the Pack9 for about $329 as a novelty. Maybe. PCC’s are mostly a waste of steel, my opinion, humble as it is. And guessing my line in the sand on price is going to be way off from reality.

  3. Looks to me that everyone can agree, with the other options out there this better come out with a cheap msrp or this thing is going to be in the ballpark the other commenter mention, a novelty. And kuddos on thinking about the looking down the barrel, no matter if can or can’t fire just the thought of it is cringe worthy. Don’t know if this is one is gonna make the cutt. I’d don’t think I’d want too fumble with this half asleep with a intruder coming at me. Haha, just making a funny.
