The Best Selling Firearms of 2022

Every month Gunbrokers releases their monthly sales data that makes it easy to track what guns seem to be moving in the United States. At the end of every year, we get the enjoyment of figuring out which firearms are best sellers for the year before. With that in mind, we grabbed the data for the top ten firearms sold in 2022. Keep in mind this is only Gunbroker data, but it’s honestly the best we are going to get! Let’s dive in and see if you purchased any of the best sellers of 2022.

1. Sig P320

It’s easy to see why the Sig P320 tops the best sellers list. The P320 series is now massive, with many different models. The mass appeal makes these guns easy to sell. Not to forget, the military’s adoption of the P320 as the M17 and M18 certainly helped drive sales. If it’s good enough for the Army, it’s good enough for everyone!

The P320 series is massive, and it’s easy to take the top spot.

The P320’s claim to fame is its modular design. The serialized portion of the firearm is a fire control unit that is easily removed from the frame. You can swap frames, slides, and even calibers to build the gun you ultimately want. That certainly has to help drive sales.

2. Remington 700

Remington died but was reborn. The new Remington is free from the confines of Cerebrus Captial. Now they can focus on their core products, which include the Remington 700 series of bolt action rifles. These legendary rifles have found a home in the hands of hunters, police officers, and even the Army and Marine Corps.

The 700 series is another rather expansive series of rifles with varying calibers, barrel lengths, and action sizes. Not to mention stock variances, magazine differences, and more. The Remington 700 has snaked its way into several categories of firearm users and has cemented its place in the American consciousness.

3. Sig P365

The Sig P365 series of handguns has continued to dominate the market. The P365 started the micro-compact genre and continues to dominate the market. It helps that SIG also offers half a dozen different models, which helps boost the sales numbers by offering options for a variety of shooters.

The P365 Nitron
The P365 has been an immensely popular handgun.

This is my current EDC and likely the EDC of a good chunk of our readership. The P365 series offers shooters a compact, easy-toting gun with at least ten rounds of ammo in the magazine. Over the years, it’s evolved to offer optic-ready models, larger models, SAS models, and even a .380 variant.

4. Smith and Wesson M&P 9

The list doesn’t differentiate between if this combines Gen 1 and Gen 2 guns, and I can’t help but think it does. The M&P9 is Smith and Wesson’s most successful attempt at competing with Glock. This polymer frame, striker-fired pistol gave the world one of the true Glock competitors, and the market has seemingly embraced the American-made option.

S&W M&P 9mm handgun
The S&W M&P 9 is a great duty and defense handgun.

S&W has pumped a lot into this gun and provided a multitude of models, including optics-ready designs, competition guns, and more. It’s become a popular series for those who want a Glock alternative that stands on its own merit.

5. Ruger 10/22

This is no surprise. Ruger’s 10/22 defined the semi-auto .22LR rifle genre and continues to be the best option on the market. It’s like Jimmy and Jane’s first gun, and it remains a favorite of shooters at all experience levels.

The Ruger 10/22 is a rimfire legend.

The little Ruger 10/22 provides shooters with a reliable, rimfire rifle platform that’s also remarkably modular. You can build a Ruger 10/22 without ever using a Ruger part. It’s the Glock or rimfire rifle. They are affordable and well-made. It’s no surprise that they appear on this list every year.

6. Mossberg 590

When it comes to tactical, pump-action shotguns, there are only two big names in the genre, and the first and most successful is Mossberg. The Mossberg 590 series is what happens when you consciously take the Mossberg 500 design and make a tactical shotgun. The Mossberg 590 series of shotguns offer shooters the unbeatable reliability of a 500 with the modern features of a tactical shotgun.

The 590 is the premier pump action fighting shotgun.

This includes a blow-out magazine design that can be easily extended, as well as a short barrel for close-quarters fighting. Mossberg makes a ton of 590 series shotguns, and it’s easy to find one with ghost ring sights and a bayonet lug at varying barrel lengths. If you need a home defense shotgun, the 590 is a high-quality, affordable option.

7. Remington 870

Remember how I mentioned there are two big names in the pump action genre? Well, Remington is the other option. Remington brought back the 870, and the Remington fans were ecstatic. They brought back the Wingmaster and the Express, as well as Turkey and Tactical models. On top of that, they even introduced the Field Master as an entirely new model.

The Remington 870 has made a comeback.

The Remington 870 series are quite popular for hunting, home defense, and police work. While the stutter they experienced with Freedom Group certainly didn’t help, they seem to be back and better than ever.

8. Glock 19

Glock pistols are mostly pretty similar guns. It’s a spartan combination of polymer and steel that forms a simple but effective pistol. Glock has never proposed one pistol to be their flagship over another, but the Glock 19 is by far their most popular model. The compact design is often touted as the best compromise of concealment and capability currently available.

The Glock 19 is currently in its 5th Generation

The Glock 19 is in its fifth generation and comes in a standard and optic-ready format. It’s unclear if the 19XC is also part of these sales numbers. The Glock 19 serves as a competent concealed carry firearm as well as a worthy home defense option. It’s no big surprise it’s a frequent flyer on the most-sold list year after year.

9. Ruger American Rifle

The Ruger American rifle series are affordable bolt action rifles available in a ton of different calibers, stocks, barrel lengths, magazine platforms, and more. This includes your typical calibers like .308 and .243, but also some oddball options.

The Ruger American rifle is a lightweight, budget-friendly rifle in tons of calibers.

Shooters who want a .300 Blackout of 7.62x39mm have that option with a Ruger American rifle. These handy little guns are affordable and widely available. It’s easy to see why they make the list as well.

10. Springfield XD

Saying Springfield XD isn’t saying much. It’s not specific which model, and XDs range from subcompact concealed carry platforms to bigger than full-size competition pistols. This lineup includes optics and suppressor-ready guns, various 10mm Xds, and for a while, they even have a hammer-fired version.

Springfield armory XD
The XD series is expansive with tons of models and calibers available.

The XD series is quite popular, and Springfield Armory offers tons of different promotions throughout the year that make Springfield pistols quite attractive. They also produce a ton of them, making them widely available and easy to find.

Best Selling Guns of 2022

It’s odd there isn’t a single AR or 1911 on the list, but with so many companies producing 1911s and ARs, it becomes pretty tough for one company to make its way to the top of the list. Did your favorite gun make the list? This is the total overall favorites throughout the year, but Gunbroker publishes data from more refined sources, including best pistols, best revolvers, best rifles, etc. Check it out and see if your favorites made their way to the top.
