The Allen Lite Force Tactical Sling Pack: Full Review

I will admit right from the start: me and backpacks are like girls and purses. I never seem to have enough and there’s always some new tactical sling pack or backpack that I want. My collection includes backpacks for my guns, tactical gear, survival gear, laptop, and the list keeps going. From little CCW backpacks to bags so big I could pack a years’ worth of stuff in them, I have them all.

A good backpack is one of the handiest things to have because they make it easy to haul stuff around you may need on a trip or when out and about with everyday errands. I use multiple bags because I set them up for a specific task and have them ready to go. Today we look at an addition to my list: the Allen Lite Force Tactical Sling Pack, also known as the Tac Six Sling Pack by Allen.

The Allen Company has been around for more than 50 years and produces a variety of tactical, hunting, and camping products. The Lite Force Tac Six Sling Pack is designed for easy access without taking the pack off. This is handy in emergency situations, but also when hiking or camping.

The Tac Six is a medium-sized bag with plenty of storage but isn’t bulky. It also has a place for a gun and holster to attach which I’ll cover shortly. Let’s go through the bag from zipper to pocket and see if it’s worthy of being your next backpack.

The Tac Six Tactical Sling Pack Exterior

The first thing that I noticed on the Tac Six Sling Pack was the pressure strap across the front of the bag. I like pressure straps on bags because they keep everything snug and compact while moving around. The pressure strap is adjustable and pulls the top and bottom of the bag together when tightened.

The single water bottle holder on one side was a feature that stood out to me. I call this a feature because this bag is not meant for long-range survival. It’s a multi-purpose bag, so one bottle holder is sufficient. The water bottle holder is large enough to fit most individual-sized bottles. There is a bungie for tightening the top around the bottle.

On the opposite side of the bag, they placed a pocket with a side zipper instead of a second water bottle holder. I’ll talk more about this pocket later. The bag has a carry handle on top making it easy to move around when not worn. A small loop also allows the bag to be hung up when empty. The back of the bag features a mesh lining with padding underneath. This makes the bag comfortable and helps keep your back cooler when wearing it.

MOLLE, Velcro, and Zippers on the Tactical Sling Pack

MOLLE straps cover the lower front portion of the bag. The right side of the bag has MOLLE straps and the sling has some on the front as well. Velcro material covers the upper front portion of the bag. Adjustable bungies crisscross the area to secure any small items or pouches you wish to attach. Each pocket has two sets of zippers that make it easy to access the pocket.

I keep both zippers ¾ of the way up so I can pull down on one zipper for quick access or pull both zippers apart for full access to the compartment. The sling has a quick access hook and there is a plastic mounting ring on the right side of the bag for attaching accessories.

There are five pockets accessed by a zipper on the outside of the bag. The largest compartment has a sixth zipper compartment inside of that one. We will take a quick look at each compartment starting at the bottom of the bag and work our way up.

Compartments 1 and 2

The first pocket on the lower front of the bag has a side zipper and is large enough to hold a cell phone, wallet, keys, and other items. This compartment has one zipper with a strap to secure the zipper and keep it from opening unintentionally.

Compartment two is directly behind compartment one and has two zippers for faster access. There is a small quick release hook inside this compartment for keys or other small items you don’t want to go missing. Each side of the pocket also has a thin nylon divider to separate items within the compartment.

Compartment 3

This compartment is located at the top of the bag with one divider running the length of the compartment and another divider about the size of a credit card attached to it. This is a great compartment for a first-aid kit, cell phone, money, knife, or other items that size. It has two zippers with Velcro material on the outside like mentioned above.

Compartments 4 and 5

This is the main storage area of the backpack. It runs the length of the bag, which is about 18-inches long, and unzips enough to fold the bag open. On one side of the compartment are two open-top pouches. The other side has a zipper that encloses a net material (compartment 5) for smaller items. Behind this compartment, another open-top pouch runs the length of the bag. I fit my laptop and charger in this area and still had plenty of room for other items.

Compartment 6

The last compartment is on the back side of the tactical sling bag with a zipper running down the left side of the bag. The inside of this compartment has Velcro material for attaching a holster or other tactical gear for quick access. Because the Tac Six uses a sling instead of two shoulder straps, the bag can be rotated to the front of your body for quick access to this pocket. This makes for a great way to carry a weapon when it’s not feasible or practical to carry a holster on your side.

Great Value at a Great Price

The applications are endless with this bag. It appears to be well made, comfortable to carry, and has plenty of compartments and pockets for your gear. This bag would work great for setting up your go-bag or EDC (everyday carry) bag. The sling is easy to pull on and off quickly, but a second strap is provided to help keep it secure. This is helpful when traveling or wearing it for longer distances.

Some tactical sling bags tend to ride up on your neck, making them uncomfortable. The Tac Six feels like a regular backpack when it’s on. When a product is built well compared to the price, I like to say it’s a good deal for the price tag. However, this bag is a great product regardless of the price. The Allen Lite Force Tactical Sling Pack sells for well under $100 and is currently available in black or tan on GunMagWarehouse. If you’re in the market for a new bag, give the Lite Force Tactical Sling Pack a try. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
