In the world of precision rifle shooting (PRS), serious competitors understand the need for a match-grade gun. Sometimes it’s a challenge to find the right gun for the purpose, but for PRS, there’s the Sig Sauer CROSS PRS. The CROSS PRS was designed with attention to detail and dedication to creating the best possible platform for precision shooters, all backed by Sig’s solid reputation as a gun maker.
Sig Sauer shared some details of their CROSS PRS rifle:
The CROSS Rifle makes its move to the world of Competitive Shooting with the new CROSS-PRS. This latest addition to the CROSS line of bolt action rifles has been completely re-configured to meet the specific needs of long-range precision shooters. With its steel-structured 14.2lb design, the CROSS-PRS distributes weight evenly, delivering a balanced feel while reducing recoil and decreasing the time it takes to get back on target. The CROSS-PRS features a folding adjustable steel stock for easy movement, a heavy contour stainless 5R rifled barrel for extreme accuracy, an 18” free-floating, two-piece Arca handguard for easy connection to tripods and bipods, and a precision-designed grip and selector switch. The CROSS-PRS is purpose-built, with all of the features needed to be an extremely capable precision long-range rifle right out of the box.
Tom Taylor, Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Vice President Commercial Sales at Sig Sauer, Inc. made the following statement about the CROSS PRS:
This launch is an exciting series of firsts for Sig — this is the first expansion of our popular CROSS rifle and the first rifle we’ve built specifically for long range, precision rifle competition. The CROSS-PRS is purpose built and feature rich. The heavy structured steel design delivers weight evenly for a balanced feel while reducing recoil to get you back on target faster. Combined with the extreme accuracy of the heavy contour 5R rifled barrel, and folding adjustable steel stock for easy movement, the CROSS-PRS delivers an extremely capable long-range shooting experience that scores big on the range, right out of the box.
Perhaps the most important thing about a PRS rifle is how easily it can be customized to fit the shooter. The Sig Sauer CROSS PRS is fantastically adjustable thanks to a stock that’s adjustable for length of pull and cheek riser height and a trigger with a pull that can be easily set between 2.5 and 4.5 pounds. Other useful features include the fact that the stock folds for portability purposes and the handguard is M-M-LOK compatible. A Picatinny rail runs the length of the receiver as well, making it easy to install optics or iron sights as desired.
