All aboard! Federal Ammunition is on track at the 2024 SHOT Show with the addition of Freight Train Copper sabot slugs. These slugs are available in 12 and 20-gauge with either a 300-grain or 275-grain tipped projectile, respectively. Freight Train is available as 2-3/4 or 3-inch. Impressively, the exclusive streamlined sabot design can produce less than 4-inch groups at 200 yards through rifled barrels.

These slugs feature a polymer tip and aerodynamic nose profile to maximize downrange energy. The externally skived nose cavity provides dramatic expansion to drop bucks, bears, or boars where they stand.

With Freight Train, we tailored the copper bullet design to improve expansion and penetration for optimal lethality on big game,” explained Alex Schmieg, Federal’s senior engineer for shotshell ammunition. “The all-new bullet has exceptional performance at all ranges giving hunters the confidence in thick timber or a 200-yard open shot across a field.”
Freight Train slugs are available in 5-count boxes. Their MSRP ranges from $21.99 to $24.99 depending on gauge and size.
