New Products Debuted at TriggrCon 2023

Located in Wichita KS, TriggrCon includes two exhibition days and one range day. It’s one of the larger firearms industry events in the country and this year’s show was not a disappointment.  Some of the top names in the industry were on hand to showcase their featured products. A few of those companies also unveiled some new products as we near this year’s fourth quarter. Others may not have announced new products, but they had products submitted for the Golden Trigger Awards. Staccato, Night Hawk, Walther, CZ, Silencer Co, Holosun, IWI, and Global Ordinance were just a few of the big-name companies that submitted for awards.

The event was also full of smaller companies that were showcasing some interesting and innovative designs. Guns, ammo, lights, silencers, triggers, optics, and everything in between could be found as you walked the isles of the event. And if that wasn’t exciting enough for the gun enthusiast, there was more. Gear Head Works purchased John Wick’s Mustang and had it on display. To my surprise, they even let me sit in the driver’s seat. While I love the “John Wick” movies, it’s a shame they smashed up a classic car just to film it.

Here are some of the new products showcased at TriggrCon that were just released or will be released soon.

SAR SOCOM and SAR Subcompact Gen 2

SAR has been making some great guns at a price point that’s hard to beat. The SOCOM is one of their newest additions to their full-size lineup and the Subcompact Gen 2 should be shipping soon. The SOCOM comes standard with a flared magwell, suppressor height sights, threaded barrel, and interchangeable backstraps. The backstrap is one of my favorite features because SAR makes multiple colors for you to switch it out with.

A kit is even available with multiple color backstraps so you can change it out whenever you want. It uses a double recoil spring and features a Glock-style takedown lever for removing the slide. One thing SAR changed with the takedown, though, is the trigger does not have to be pulled before removing the slide like on Glock pistols. It retails for $499, making it an attractive-looking handgun for the price.

The SAR Subcompact Gen 2 is their newest gun that is set to start shipping any time. It features a stainless-steel internal frame on the inside of the polymer grip for added strength. The striker-fired pistol has a forged steel alloy barrel and slide with a Cerakote finish. Two 12-round magazines come with the subcompact making it a great little carry gun that still holds plenty of ammo.

On the range, both the SOCOM and Subcompact Gen 2 shot well. My favorite was the SOCOM, but the subcompact wasn’t far behind. For being such a little gun, it was easy to handle and there wasn’t much recoil. Both guns have flat-faced triggers which I like, and the block-style sight made it easy to keep on target. I wouldn’t hesitate to carry either one of these guns.

Amend2

Known best for their magazines, Amend2 has several new products being released, and not all of them are magazines. The AMS (Amend Modular Stock) is scheduled to start shipping by the end of the year. This stock comes as a base purchase stock or with an upgrade kit. The base stock is a 6-position AR-15 stock with M-LOK attachments and a double-sided QD attachment. Accessories can be added to the stock that include a battery and lower storage compartment, or you can buy the stock with the storage compartment already on it. The stock with storage compartment is set to retail at $89.99 or you can buy the Carbon version for $10 more.

Another item they showcased at TriggrCon is their Enhanced Amend 2 Pistol Grip for AR-15s. This grip is on the slim side and has heavy texturing on all four sides of it. It has a steep grip angle and a compartment hatch on the bottom. The grip doesn’t come with the grip screw or wrench, but its suggested retail is only $19.99.

Don’t forget the magazines!

Amend 2 can’t really show off new products without including AR-15 magazines and they had plenty of those on hand too. One of their newer magazines being offered is a .300 Blackout specific AR mag. The feed lips on the magazine have been altered slightly to avoid feeding issues. This occasionally pops up when shooting .300 blackout in a standard 5.56 magazine.

For those who like colorful AR mags or want to collect them, Amend2 is now making a different color-designed AR mag each month. Some of these designs will be available from their retail partners and some are only available on a monthly AR mag subscription of $25. With this subscription, you will receive a new AR mag in the mail each month in a completely new color and design.

Grand Power Stribog in 10mm

One of the most exciting finds at the show was the new 10mm Stribog being imported by Global Ordinance. The SP10 is available in both pistol and rifle length, and the SP10 makes the 10mm recoil feel like a 9mm caliber. I have been a huge fan of the Stribog line since the SP9-A1 was released. They are often compared with the B&T even though they are half the price. I’ve never had any issues with mine and I’m waiting patiently to get ahold of the 10mm from Global Ordinance for some extensive firing and review.

I did, however, get to put in a little range time with one at TriggrCon thanks to Global Ordinance and their team. I fired the SP10A3 with a silencer and it was one of the smoothest shooting sub-guns I have fired. The fact that it was a 10mm made it even more desirable because it didn’t have any more recoil in it than the 9mm version. I also fired the new .45 caliber Stribog and found the same results, little recoil with almost no barrel rise.

Both the 10mm and .45 come with fully ambidextrous controls, M-LOK slots, and a Picatinny rail for mounting an optic. There was a lot of buzz around the 10mm so I’m guessing it will be a while before they are easy to find. For those 1911 lovers who want to use the same ammo, the .45 caliber Stribog is a great option as well.

GT-Smart Safe

The GT-Smart Safe by Vaultek was a cool clock, phone dock, and gun-safe combo that has some great potential. The digital display shows the time, temperature, and humidity. It plugs into the wall but also has an emergency battery that powers it for 12 hours during power outages. The hidden gun drawer opens automatically in one of three ways: biometric fingerprint scanner, keypad, and key. It comes with bolts for mounting it to the surface for added security. For a bedside gun safe that’s still functional, this is one of the best products I’ve seen.

When unlocked, the drawer opens automatically, even with a full-size handgun inside. Not only can you use it as a real clock, but you can set your phone on the built-in charging station each night as well. The only downside I found with this safe was the price. Suggested retail is listed at $479 making it a little on the pricy side for a single gun safe. But it appears to be top quality and has multiple functions.

Summary

There were a ton more products being released at TriggrCon worth checking out, but these were among my favorites. Of course, Range Day is always the best day of any gun show because you get to use the product yourself. Silencers, 1911/2011 handguns, and cool little gadgets dominated this year’s show. I’m still not sure if getting to shoot some new guns was better than sitting in John Wick’s car, but both were highlights of TriggrCon.

In another article, I’ll cover some of the new 1911 and 2011 handguns that have become extremely popular this year. Until then, check out some of these new products and tell us what you think.
