Here’s a bit of good news for the rimfire folks. Volquartsen has now released the Exact Edge Extractor and Holder for the CZ 457. The upgrade’s intention is to provide more reliable extraction, thus providing smooth, consistent ejection of spent casings. The net result of such efforts, of course, should be enhanced reliability and performance.
This Exact Edge Extractor and Holder are also compatible with other CZ models, including the CZ 452, CZ 453, and CZ 455 rifle models.
Volquartes Marketing Director Chad Wittrock says more models will be forthcoming, “Our Exact Edge Extractor and Holder for the CZ 457 is just the beginning. We’re excited to continue to expand our line of rimfire parts. Not only are we hoping to add additional parts for CZ firearms but other popular rimfire models as well.”

Installing the Volquartsen Extractor
Via the Volquartsen “How To” section online.
Tools Needed
- A clean, non-slip surface, like a cleaning mat.
- A Pick to apply pressure or leverage with.
Disassembly
Use the pick to gently pry out the extractor spring. Use your other hand to lightly hold the other end of the extractor spring while you remove it.
The factory extractor and holder should now slide out freely.
Reassembly
Install the new extractor and holder into the bolt.
Note: make sure the extractor is installed on the same side of the bolt as the bolt handle.
While holding the extractor and holder in the bolt, hook the extractor spring on the holder and then pull it around to the extractor. Use the pick to pull the spring the rest of the way over the extractor.
