Shotgunners will be pleased with the latest offering from Federal Ammunition: new shotshell ammo. After all, it’s always good to have options for your shotgun, and Federal is known for producing quality, reliable ammunition. Launched just in time for the 2024 SHOT Show, these new products promise superior performance for a variety of applications.
Federal Ammunition has announced four new shotshell loads for 2024. In addition, they will showcase several product line extensions. Among other loads, the new ammunition includes additions in Gold Medal, Heavyweight TSS, and Personal Defense Buckshot. The entirely new products are the Freight Train, Hi-Bird Bismuth, Prairie Storm Bismuth Blend, and Ultra Steel.
Federal’s Freight Train Copper load is an all-new lineup of tipped sabot slugs available in 12 and 20-gauge. This load features a streamlined copper projectile and sabot design that produces fantastic groups out to 200 yards with rifled barrels. Freight Train Copper has a polymer tip and aerodynamic nose profile as well as an externally-skived nose cavity to deliver excellent expansion on target.
Hi-Bird Bismuth is available in 12-gauge, No. 5 shotshells. This load utilizes the cellulose over-powder wad technology from the original Hi-Bird Fiber Wad but has a payload of 9.6 g/cc bismuth, meaning it meets nontoxic requirements. Pellets in this load are 22% denser than steel which means greater energy downrange and superior results on game.
Prairie Storm Bismuth Blend is a new product line that includes six loads. These are upland loads that feature Prairie Storm’s FLITECONTROL FLEX wad and Premium steel shot in No. 3 or 4. HEVI-Bismuth boosts performance with No. 5 or 6.
Federal Premium Ultra Steel uses a rear-opening FLITECONTROL FLEX wad with zinc-plated steel. This 3-inch load produces impressively tight patterns while offered in a variety of standard payloads.
MSRP for the new products from Federal varies by load. Federal will showcase these products at their booth (#11838) for the 2024 SHOT Show.
