Lone Wolf has been producing excellent barrels for various Glock pistol models for a long time. Now they’re moving on from the Glock aftermarket battlespace to operate in the Sig Sauer aftermarket area. Specifically, they’re now making barrels for the P365 and P365XL.
The new barrels are manufactured using 416 stainless steel, finished with a Quench Polish Quench (QPQ) coating, and are available in threaded and unthreaded versions.
Dawn 365 Barrels
Lone Wolf says the new 365 barrels feature a “new profile design,” which includes the geometry of the hood pocket. That’s the stepped flat~tish face on the top of the back end of your barrel, i.e. the opposite end from the crown. The layout is designed to reduce the bearing surface, which in turn is intended to promote faster cycling and smoother shooting. They’ve done the same with the profile facets.
The handgun barrels can reportedly be dropped into a factory slide without issue or modifications. Installation is definitely one of the easier DIY upgrades you can make to your gun. They can be purchased in threaded or non-threaded versions, and are available in several colors, including Graphite Gray, Black, FDE (Flat Dark Earth), and ORB (Oil Rubbed Bronze). The latter is another type of coating that is highly resistant to fading, tarnishing, or corrosion. Speaking of coatings, the majority of the Dawn 365 barrels use a durable QPQ coating.
QPQ Coating
Quench polish quench (more often referred to as Melonite in gun manufacturing circles) is a coating that increases corrosion resistance. It’s called QPQ because first, the item in question (in this case the barrel) is nitrocarbonized. It’s then polished, and finally post-oxidized, which doubles down on the corrosion resistance begun with the nitrocarbonizing.
