AR-style pistols are showing no signs of slowing down in popularity despite recent scrutiny of pistol braces from the ATF. Unfortunately, if you do not want to brace your pistol, you still have to deal with a buffer tube that sticks out the back of the receiver. It is ungainly, and you can’t do much with it on its own from a shooting perspective. Bear Creek Arsenal skips the dilemma altogether with its new 9mm Bufferless pistol.
New for 2024, this new blowback-operated AR-style 9mm pistol from Bear Creek Arsenal eliminates the need for an external buffer tube and spring to cushion the reciprocating bolt by placing the spring inside the receiver. This, combined with the short 5-inch M4 contour barrel, drastically reduces the pistol’s footprint. The receiver is made of billet 4150 steel and comes with an integral section of Picatinny rail at the rear in case you wish to mount a brace later.
The Side-Charging Pistol features a right-side charging handle and a four-inch M-LOK handguard with ample room to protect your hands and mount a weapon light. It features the same left-side mounted magazine release, bolt release, and safety selector that AR shooters are intensely familiar with. The Side-Charging Pistol comes from the factory with a Glock magazine-compatible magwell. It is now available with an MSRP of $504.83.
