An Ammo-Filled Adventure: KCI 17-Round Magazines for Glock

With the costs of everything still on the rise, most of us are looking for a less expensive alternative to the pricy brand-name products that we all know and love. How can we shoot more and get more out of our firearms without spending the big bucks if we don’t have to? Is there a better way to keep down costs while still training with and carrying a reliable firearm?

Thankfully, the aftermarket game is strong, especially if you own a Glock — possibly the most widely-supported firearm on the market. When it comes to accessories, there is likely someone out there making what you need for your Glock without the Glock name and price tag attached to it. One of those companies is KCI.

KCI magazine
At first glance, the KCI magazine looks exactly like its Glock counterpart. It’s not until you look deeper that you discover the differences.

I’m a strong advocate of owning as many magazines as you can afford. The more, the merrier, especially when going to the range, where you don’t want to waste time stuffing mags. Stuff them at home so you can maximize your time shooting.

When it comes to enhancing your Glock’s firepower and prolonging range time, the KCI 17-round magazines rise to the occasion. These little wonders offer an extra punch to your shooting experience, delivering reliable performance and excellent capacity. In this review, we’ll embark on an ammo-filled adventure, exploring the key features, testing the functionality, and ultimately discovering the joy of these magazines. So, holster your imagination and join me as we delve into the world of KCI 17-round magazines for Glock.

Eye-Catching Design

At first look at the KCI 17-round magazines, I can’t help but appreciate their sleek and rugged design. Crafted from durable polymer, these magazines have a robust build that ensures long-lasting functionality. The matte black finish adds a touch of sophistication, making your Glock look even more formidable.

The most eye-catching part, to me, is that the Glock OEM magazine and the KCI clone are virtually identical. If you cover up the logos, it’s nearly impossible to tell them apart.

Aside from the logos on the baseplates, it’s hard to tell which is which, Glock vs. KCI.

While this may seem trivial or even a given (duh, why wouldn’t they look alike?), I’ve reviewed many Glock knockoffs that were easily distinguishable from one another. The benefit to us as consumers is that we get to enjoy many of the Glock OEM features in a non-Glock magazine.

For example, KCI kept the famous Glock Dots on the back to show your ammo load. A lot of aftermarket mags do away with those, making it impossible to know how many rounds you have left.

Also, KCI’s baseplate looks more like the original, offering the possibility that certain aftermarket extenders might fit. I didn’t have one handy during my testing, so you’ll have to discover on your own which ones, if any, will work, but at least there’s a chance.

Will the KCI magazine accept aftermarket Glock-compatible extenders? Inquiring minds want to know. Many Glock knock-offs won’t.

Reliable Performance With KCI Magazines

One aspect that can make or break a magazine is its reliability. Fortunately, the KCI 17-round magazines excel in this area, delivering consistent feeding without any hiccups. During extensive range sessions, I put these magazines through their paces, firing various loads and testing their performance in different conditions.

The magazines flawlessly cycled rounds, regardless of the ammunition type or brand. From FMJ to JHP, the KCI magazines showcased their ability to handle diverse cartridges without any misfeeds or malfunctions. Not one. And I put a variety of grains through the pipe. The sturdy construction and precision engineering contributed to their reliability, ensuring a seamless shooting experience.

It’s nice to see the Glock Dots (although KCI doesn’t call them that) on the magazine’s back, making ammo level checking easier.

Did I drop them on the concrete floor during reloads? Does a bear do his thing in the woods? Each time they hit the floor, they bounced right back with zero damage to the feed lips and the baseplates still attached, a frequent point of failure for many magazines, especially aftermarkets.

Ease of Use

Ease of use is another critical factor when evaluating magazines, and the KCI 17-round models leave little to be desired. Loading and unloading rounds was a breeze, thanks to the ergonomically designed follower and durable spring. The smooth, consistent pressure during loading made it effortless to insert rounds, saving time and reducing frustration.

The magazine’s unique witness holes allowed for quick and accurate round-count checks, eliminating any guesswork. The transparent windows provided a visual indication of the remaining ammunition, ensuring you’re always aware of your firepower status during intense shooting sessions.

Furthermore, the magazines featured a user-friendly disassembly mechanism, allowing for easy cleaning and maintenance. This added convenience ensures that your magazines remain in optimal condition, ready for action whenever you need them.

KCI Magazines are affordable.

Now, let’s talk about the price tag of only $14.99 MSRP. That’s cheap for a Glock-compatible magazine. The KCI 17-round magazines for Glock offer exceptional value for the money. Compared to other aftermarket magazines on the market, the KCI magazines come at a more affordable price point without compromising on quality or performance. This makes them an attractive option for Glock owners who desire reliable extended capacity without breaking the bank. These mags are one of the least expensive options on the market.

Range Session Wrap-Up

In the realm of Glock magazines, the KCI 17-round magazine can easily vie for top dog. With their eye-catching design, reliable performance, ease of use, and affordability, these magazines offer a delightful shooting experience. Whether you’re a competitive shooter, a range enthusiast, or a self-defense advocate, the KCI 17-round magazines elevate your Glock to new heights. So, load up, lock and load, and let the KCI magazines unleash the full potential of your Glock, transforming your shooting sessions into a truly enjoyable adventure.
