Springfield Armory’s 50th Anniversary M1A

Springfield Armory offers a variety of small arms, from subcompact striker-fired pistols to AR platforms, but its first offering is also its most well-known: the Springfield Armory M1A. To mark its 50th anniversary, Springfield Armory is rolling out a limited-edition M1A.

Springfield Armory has been producing the M1A since the company was founded in 1974. This semi-automatic version of the then-recently retired M14 7.62 NATO service rifle was an instant hit with military aficionados and long-range competitive shooters. Springfield even had a hand in returning the platform to service in time for the Global War on Terror.

The 50th Anniversary M1A is built and presented with the rifle’s storied history in mind, and only 1,974 will be manufactured. The rifle ships in a pine supply crate and comes with an olive drab canvas sling, a cleaning kit, and the Army’s M14 technical manual. The rifle itself is housed in a padded soft-sided case.

The M1A rifle is easily one of Springfield Armory’s most recognizable and respected offerings,” said Springfield’s VP of Marketing, Steve Kramer. With this new limited-edition rifle, we are offering fans of the firearm a rare opportunity to own their own collectible part of its iconic history.”

This version of the M1A is close to its original format. It features a walnut stock and a 22-inch barrel with an integral flash suppressor and bayonet lug, as seen on the M14. The barrel is National Match grade and comes equipped with a protected front sight post and a rear aperture sight that is 1/2 MOA adjustable for windage and 1 MOA adjustable for elevation. To denote its place in Springfield Armory’s lineage, the operating rod is engraved to denote its line in the serial number range. A 50th Anniversary medallion is also inlet into the right side of the buttstock.

The new Springfield Armory M1A 50th Anniversary edition comes equipped with a 10-round magazine and has an MSRP of $2,499.
