Handgun hunting is an increasingly popular sport with plenty of handguns to choose from. Picking ammunition can be dicey. Jacketed soft point ammunition delivers controlled expansion and deep penetration on game when fired from a rifle. However, lower handgun velocities usually fail to meet the mark with soft points. The Remington Core-Lokt bonded soft point is about as close to the end-all and be-all in factory hunting rifle ammunition. For 2024, Remington has introduced Core-Lokt loads for magnum handguns.
The new Remington Core-Lokt Handgun load features a bonded copper-jacketed hollow point instead of a soft point. The hollow point deforms at handgun velocity with the copper jacket bonded to the lead core. This produces better weight retention and penetration than standard defensive hollow point ammunition. In addition, the projectiles are loaded in corrosion resistant nickel-plated cases.
While more calibers are planned in the future, the Remington Core-Lokt Handgun line starts today with offerings in .357 Magnum, 10mm Auto, .41 Magnum, and .44 Magnum. Core-Lokt Handgun’s MSRP ranges from $40.99 to $52.99.
