Rossi on a Roll: The New Rossi Survival Rifle .410/.45 Colt

Rossi USA has been quietly importing their Brazilian-made Tuffy break-action shotgun for many years. These little short-barreled .410 single-shot guns are a favorite for introducing shorter-statured shooters to shotgunning and among those who need a versatile addition to the camping pack or survival kit. New for 2023 is the Rossi Survival Rifle in .410/.45 Colt.

Rossi’s parent company, Taurus, is probably best known for their Judge revolvers that are chambered for .45 Colt but with a cylinder that is long enough to accommodate .410 shells. Rossi has followed that up recently with the Brawler single-shot pistol in the same caliber configuration. Although the outer diameter of the case of the .410 is similar to the .45 Colt, you could not interchange them safely in conventional .410 smoothbore shotguns. However, Taurus and Rossi’s .45 Colt-chambered guns can. Now, thanks to the Rossi Survival Rifle, the formula is finished.

The Rossi Survival Rifle weighs 3 lbs. 2 oz., unloaded, and is built around a lightweight polymer thumbhole stock and a handy 16-inch rifled barrel. This barrel length will give you the most out of .45 Colt shells when .410 birdshot, buckshot, and slugs won’t solve the problem. Like the Tuffy, it is a single-shot break-action shotgun with a manual cross-bolt safety that new and old shooters alike value for its simplicity. The Rossi Survival Rifle comes with a pair of sling studs and iron sights, but it also sports a Picatinny rail for the optic of your choice. This new offering has a polymer shell carrier on both sides of the buttstock, allowing you to carry eight rounds of .45 Colt or .410 bore shells.

The Rossi Survival Rifle gives you the prospect of bigger medicine on larger predators with enough versatility to nail squirrels and birds on the fly at closer distances. The Survival Rifle has an MSRP of $357 and is shipping now.
