In the world of rimfire target pistols, Volquartsen Firearms reign supreme. But if a larger pistol is not called for, consider the new Mini Scorpion semi-auto target pistol. Specifically designed for competitive shooting applications, this performance-enhanced rimfire pistol is destined to be a trophy-winning tack driver.
The new Mini Scorpion offers many of the same features as the standard Scorpion target pistol, which itself takes inspiration from the tried and true Ruger Mk. series of pistols. Instead of a long bull barrel, the Mini Scorpion ships with a threaded three-inch barrel that is not onerous to wield, even with a suppressor affixed.
Quick Specs:
- Model: Mini Scorpion
- Caliber: .22 LR
- Capacity: 10+1
- Barrel Length: 3 inches
- Overall Length: 8 3/8 inches
- Weight: 1 lb. 12 oz.

The three-inch stainless-steel barrel and aluminum upper assembly are available as a standalone option to mount on existing Ruger Mk. II or III lower frames, but it also comes as the Mini Scorpion’s purpose-built black anodized aluminum VF Target Frame.
The Mini Scorpion is refined with a Volquartzen DLC-coated competition bolt and a Volquartzen accurizing kit that cuts the trigger pull weight down to 2.25 lbs. Like other Volquartzen pistols, the Mini Scorpion comes with a hand-filling Hogue grip and the same natural-pointing 1911 grip angle.
The Mini Scorpion is similarly appointed as the Mk. series with knurled knobs on the left side of the pistol that serves as the magazine release, slide release, and thumb safety. It comes with a fiber optic front sight, a dovetailed rear notch, and an integral Picatinny rail for optics options. This discreet competition option starts at $1,481.50 MSRP.
