Desert Eagles aren’t only iconic, they’re truly useful guns. While some see them as the realm of range toys and fun big bores, it’s accurate to say the Desert Eagle is great for shooting sports like hog hunting. Now there’s a new gun being added to the Magnum Research Desert Eagle family, and it promises to be even better than its predecessors. The Magnum Research Desert Eagle Viking L5 is designed as both a useful pistol and an homage to Norse culture.
According to Magnum Research, if Thor had a handgun, it would be a Desert Eagle pistol (and not just any model, either, specifically this one). Also, Viking culture has been a powerful influence on modern warrior culture for many reasons such as their devotion to battle and the strength of the weapons they carried. Because of this, Magnum Research chose Norse long swords found in archeological digs to use as the inspiration behind the design of the Viking L5 Desert Eagle.
The Magnum Research Desert Eagle Viking L5 is a custom handgun with a hand-distressed weathered finish created to resemble the ancient blades wielded by Vikings. It’s protected by a clear coat finish, making it more resistant to use-related wear. The visually striking firearm offers both the rugged, sophisticated look of the original Desert Eagle with the ancient imagery of Norse culture. This gun is meant to be the perfect collectible piece for gun enthusiasts with an interest in Norse history, but it’s also useful.
This Mark XIX L5 is chambered in 50 AE. It has a 5-inch barrel with an integral muzzle brake to help mitigate felt recoil and muzzle rise. The black frame is hard-coat anodized for durability and has a Hogue finger-grooved rubber grip for comfort. Its overall length is 9.75 inches. The overall height is 6.25 inches, and the slide width is 1.25 inches. The gun has a capacity of 7+1.
MSRP for the Magnum Research Desert Eagle Viking L5 is set at $3007.00.
