Holosun’s New Solar Charging Optics

Holosun has changed the optics game again. What used to be seen as an ineffective feature of optics, optics with a solar backup didn’t negate the need for changing batteries. Holosun has released a new family of optics that change that, the Solar Charging Rifle Sight or SCRS.

The new SCRS optics take Holosun’s SCS technology and puts it into an ultra-compact 20mm tube sight specifically designed for rifles. With the multi-directional light sensors, the SCRS features an advanced auto mode that will automatically adjust the reticle brightness for the shooter. If the shooter requires a little more control in their shooting experiences, the optics come equipped with a manual mode so they can adjust the dot intensity as well.

What makes the SCRS different is the 20,000-hour power reserve stored on an internal solar charging battery. This gives enough power to charge three different reticle styles (65 MOA circle and 2 MOA dot together, or each separately. The Multiple Reticle System, or MRS, has all three of those reticle options in the same small package. The system is capable of 50 MOA travel up or down in 1 MOA click adjustments for both windage and elevation, making it a fully capable optic.

Additionally, the reticle has eight daylight settings and four night vision compatible settings, all within a 7075-T6 aluminum housing and 22mm size window. The SCRS weighs just over 2 ounces, so it’s an easy addition to any rifle. Not only that, but it is IP67 rated and uses the Holosun 509T footprint so it can be used with aftermarket red dot sight mounts or the shooters can use the supplied mount.

According to the company, the solar charging optic is a great option for all shooters and environments, not just for the range or an average shooter. The Holosun SCRS optics line includes four different models and a price tag starting around $270.

Patti Miller is one of the most awesome females in the tactical/firearm (or any) industry. Imagine a tall, hawt, dangerous Laura Ingalls Wilder type with cool hair and a suppressed blaster and you'll be getting the idea. What's interesting is that in addition to being a willing brawler and intrepid adventuress, she's also an Ent/Ogier level gardener and a truly badass baker.
