CZ has announced the release of its latest pistol, the CZ Shadow 2 Compact. This is the smaller and lighter version of the optics-ready CZ Shadow 2 that features a lot of the same features of the full-sized big brother.
The little brother to the Shadow 2, the Shadow 2 Compact takes the pedigree of the original and puts it in a smaller, yet still capable, package. The design has supposedly been in the works since October 2021 when Product Manager Rich Huff started working on a way to deliver the same accuracy, handling, and controls in a smaller pistol, and thanks to the R&D team, the dream was realized earlier this year. The new Shadow 2 Compact is a light frame constructed from 7075 aluminum, weight only 30 ounces, and features the same ergonomic features as the original.
Features
The rear of the Shadow 2 Compact slide is equipped with an extremely low and robust mounting interface for the attachment of a red dot sight. In fact, its mounting interface is identical to what is found on the CZ Shadow 2 OR model and is compatible with the same mounting plates. The Shadow 2 Compact features an adjustable height rear sight, and the front sight includes a high-visibility red fiber optic insert for faster target achievement. Front and rear cocking serrations are said to provide “slip-free” cocking.
The pistol is not only optics-ready out of the box, but it features many of the same features as the Shadow 2. First, the smooth trigger has a shortened reset, making follow-up shots even faster. Secondly, it features an ambidextrous thumb safety so either right- or left-handed shooters can feel comfortable with the controls. In addition to that, it features a reduced height, reversible magazine release that can be easily swapped from side to side.
The slide includes an accessory rail, and the barrel is four inches long. It ships from the factory with a 15-round magazine and the size makes it a perfect fit for a concealed carry option. While CZ doesn’t list a price on the site, it looks to be available through dealers soon.
