What’s more, you can outfit this device with either a Gen 2+ or Gen 3 high-performance image intensifier tube (IIT) while a bright light cut-off feature ensures the NVG-40’s high-quality photocathode tube is protected. Even better, gain control allows you to control the image brightness so you can find the best possible image even in changing light conditions. Even better, this night vision device is equipped with an integral infrared illuminator for reading in the dark. Plus, this night vision goggle can be used as a handheld device or can be mounted to a head mount or combat helmet. A preinstalled NVG Interface Shoe allows you to mount the NVG-40 to a standard dovetail type headset or helmet mount while the included bayonet/horn interface shoe lets you install the NVG to either a standard bayonet/horn type headset and helmet mount for hands-free use.
