Weatherby’s New Mark V and Vanguard Rifles

Weatherby has announced two new bolt action rifles to its product catalog. Joining the impressive lineup from Weatherby is the new Mark V High Country rifle and the Vanguard Outfitter rifle. These new rifles are sure to be a hit for the company like the other variants have been.

Mark V High Country

The new Weatherby Mark V High Country rifle takes the idea of an ultra-light rifle for hunting to the next level. It features Peak 44s Bastion carbon fiber stock, weighing only 24 ounces, giving shooters more vertical grip and front swivel studs for accessory attachments. This rifle is said to be deadly accurate, using the adjustable TriggerTech single-stage trigger with a short and crisp pull.

The Mark V High Country has a lightweight #2 barrel, with spiral fluting, that helps reduce weight and disperses heat. The barrel is threaded 1/2×28 with an Accubrake muzzle brake from Weatherby and comes with the corresponding thread protector. Rounding out the features for the High Country is a 3D Hex recoil pad on the stock that helps reduce felt recoil, that along with the Accubrake, can tame even the biggest magnum calibers, according to Weatherby. The Weatherby Mark V High Country has a durable Cerakote finish with a custom hand-painted sponge pattern. It has a weight from 5.7 pounds to 6.8 pounds (depending on options) and an MSRP of $2,699.

Vanguard Outfitter

The second new rifle from Weatherby is the Vanguard Outfitter, built around the company’s classic action. The rifle has an integral recoil lug with a cold hammer forged barrel for an accurate shot, with guaranteed sub-MOA accuracy. The barrel is spiral fluted, like the High Country, which reduces overall weight while helping to dissipate heat for better cooling. The rifle also features a match-quality two-stage trigger and 3-position safety.

Rounding out the features of the Outfitter are the Weatherby Accubrake muzzle brake, texture touch points for a non-slip grip, and swivel studs for slings and such. The Weatherby Vanguard Outfitter weight ranges from 6.75 pounds to 7.25 pounds (depending on options) and has an MSRP of $999.

Patti Miller is one of the most awesome females in the tactical/firearm (or any) industry. Imagine a tall, hawt, dangerous Laura Ingalls Wilder type with cool hair and a suppressed blaster and you'll be getting the idea. What's interesting is that in addition to being a willing brawler and intrepid adventuress, she's also an Ent/Ogier level gardener and a truly badass baker.
