Taurus Judge Home Defender

Taurus just released a new firearm, the Judge Home Defender, and they’re calling it their ‘latest masterpiece.’ It’s the newest addition to the legendary Judge family of shot-shell capable revolvers. Like other members of the Judge family, this one offers dual caliber capacity, accepting 410 bore shells as well as 45 Colt, of course. As the name suggests, the Judge Home Defender is geared toward home defense.

So what makes this one different from the others? Well, just take a look at it!

The new Taurus Judge Defender has several new features that distinguish it from the other models in the Judge family.

Taurus Judge Home Defender Features

First off, you’ll notice the elongated barrel. Aside from lending a striking appearance to the gun, the 13-inch barrel is engineered to boost 45 Colt terminal ballistics, which Taurus says guarantees pinpoint accuracy and sets a new standard for precision in its class.

Next, you’ll probably see that forend accessory rail and the Picatinny rail up top. This gun is ready to accept lights, lasers, optics — all the preparedness accessories for a home defense weapon.

And look at that cylinder. Five rounds of 410 bore shells up to 3 inches long, or 45 Colt, your choice. The company says this unique combination “…allows users to seamlessly switch between the potent 45 Colt and the versatile 410 Bore, ensuring optimal performance in any scenario.”

One nifty little feature that you might not notice right off the bat is the Steel Blast Shield. It’s there to protect your support arm. As for the grip, it’s a rubber grip that Taurus strategically integrated into the design of the firearm to maximize recoil absorption. If this grip doesn’t work out, it is interchangeable with any aftermarket Judge grips, so the user can get the grip that best meets their needs.

Taurus describes the Judge Home Defender as a cutting-edge firearm that represents the next evolution in performance, adaptability, and user-centric design. Thanks to the dual capacity, they say it adapts ‘seamlessly’ to a broad spectrum of shooting scenarios from self-defense to sport shooting. Further, it “…represents the culmination of advanced technology, precision engineering, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. It caters to the needs of experienced professionals, self-defense advocates, and sport shooters alike, promising to exceed expectations in every regard.”

MSRP for the Taurus Judge Home Defender is $729.99.
