Smith & Wesson has expanded its M&P 5.7 family of handguns yet again, this time with an all FDE model. Joining the two-tone and all black models, the all-FDE M&P 5.7 pistol gives consumers another option in the growing family of pistols.
Like other M&P 5.7 models, the all-FDE pistol has the same features that folks have come to expect from Smith & Wesson. At the heart of the pistol is the Tempo Barrel System with the innovative internal hammer-fired locked-breech 5-inch stainless steel barrel. The gas-operated system doesn’t allow the cam to open until the bullet passes the gas port on the barrel. The 1/2×28 threaded barrel has an Armornite finish for durability and has a 1:9 twist rate.
The M&P 5.7 FDE is right around 8.5” long and is just over 5.25” tall with an overall unloaded weight of 26.7 ounces, making it a great option for any 5.7x28mm shooter. The polymer frame adds to the feel and ergonomics of the pistol, with a slim and textured grip. The flat-faced trigger adds to the ensemble with a consistent and repeatable finger placement for more accurate shooting along with the short take-up and a crisp reset.
The Smith & Wesson pistol has a stainless steel slide that features forward serrations and white dot front and rear sights. The slide is also cut for optics, making it optics-ready out of the box. The pistol also features an ambidextrous slide stop and a reversible magazine release, meaning either right- or left-handed shooters can operate the pistol easily. The gun has a Picatinny-style equipment rail in front of the trigger guard, and it ships from the factory with two 22-round metal magazines.
The Smith & Wesson M&P 5.7 FDE pistol has an MSRP of $729 and is available now.
