Smith & Wesson’s M&P5.7 Now in FDE

Smith & Wesson has expanded its M&P5.7 family of firearms with the addition of an M&P5.7 in a two-tone FDE color scheme. The pistol joins an ever-growing family of M&P pistols and two other black options in 5.7 alone.

With the growing popularity of the 5.7x28mm caliber, Smith & Wesson released the M&P5.7 pistol to give a consistent and reliable option. S&W combined some of the best features of the M&P series with the new gas-operated, locked-breech, Tempo Barrel System for the M&P5.7, and now it’s available in the two-tone FDE color option. What S&W calls a sharp two-tone setup features an Armornite-finished slide with black controls and a Flat Dark Earth colored polymer frame.

FDE M&P5.7 Features

The FDE M&P5.7 comes from the factory optics-ready and is designed to take advantage of the speed of the round with faster extraction as the gun cycles. Using the Tempo Barrel System and the front gas port, the barrel won’t cam open until the bullet passes the gas port, meaning the parts only move when they are supposed to. And speaking of the barrel, the M&P5.7 FDE features a 5” 1:9” twist barrel that is threaded 1/2×28 so it’s accessory-ready out of the box. Not only that, but the frame has a Picatinny-style rail for mounting whatever accessories the shooter could want.

The FDE M&P5.7 has loads of features that make it a sure hit with shooters, like a slim textured grip, ambidextrous slide stop, and a reversible magazine release, just to name a few. While the slide features optics cuts so it will accept most red dot optics, the slide also has forward serrations that help with the manipulation of the firearm. The pistol has a single-action flat-face trigger, with a crisp break, for consistent and repeatable finger placement, allowing for more accurate shooting.

The gun ships with two 22-round magazines from the factory for more fun shooting and less reloading. The pistol is available now and has an MSRP of $719.

Patti Miller is one of the most awesome females in the tactical/firearm (or any) industry. Imagine a tall, hawt, dangerous Laura Ingalls Wilder type with cool hair and a suppressed blaster and you'll be getting the idea. What's interesting is that in addition to being a willing brawler and intrepid adventuress, she's also an Ent/Ogier level gardener and a truly badass baker.
